Where should I apply alcohol when a child has a fever?

Although the temperature in many areas has risen now, you will still feel very cold if you don’t wear thick clothes, and you may catch a cold if you are not careful. Especially some children, who always like to go outside to play after the winter vacation, this greatly increases the chance of catching a cold or fever, so parents and friends must pay more attention. So, where should we rub alcohol when children have a fever?

Physical cooling is still relatively commonly used. It is also a relatively effective antipyretic measure. The first thing is to control the concentration of alcohol. If it is medical alcohol, it still needs to be diluted. Generally speaking, a ratio of 1:3 is better. There are also instructions for the areas to be wiped. Mainly where large blood vessels pass. For example, the forehead, neck, armpits, and groin. But the precordial area must never be wiped. Otherwise, it may lead to cardiac arrest.

If the baby's fever is below 38.5℃, parents can take physical cooling methods, such as cold and wet compresses on the head; if it exceeds 38.5℃, antipyretics can be taken under the guidance of a doctor. However, a high fever above 39°C can easily cause convulsions in children. Children under 6 months old should be treated promptly when they have a fever because their condition changes rapidly.

Infants and young children under 3 months old should use drugs to reduce fever with caution, and physical methods should be used to reduce fever instead. If the antipyretic effect of medication is not good or the body temperature exceeds 39°C within two hours after taking medication, physical methods should be used to reduce the temperature. It takes a certain amount of time for drugs to take effect. When a child's temperature suddenly exceeds 40°C, physical methods should be used to reduce the fever immediately.

1. Warm water bath: Dip a towel in warm water (the water temperature should not be too hot) and wipe the neck, armpits, and thighs for 5 to 10 minutes. You can also use a commercially available "cooling patch" (or a household ice pack) on the forehead to help dissipate heat and reduce temperature.

2. Take antipyretics. When the baby's fever exceeds 38.5 degrees, the doctor will consider using oral medications or rectal suppositories to reduce the baby's fever. Or when the above physical measures are not effective, oral antipyretics can be taken.

What food to eat when you have a fever

High fever reduces the activity of digestive enzymes in the stomach, affecting the baby's digestive function. Eating more meat at this time will not only fail to absorb, but will cause vomiting or diarrhea, aggravate the body's dehydration and be unfavorable to reducing fever. When the baby has a fever, he should eat small meals frequently, and pay attention to eating liquid, semi-liquid, nutritious, light, and easily digestible foods, and eat some fruits rich in water.

During the fever period, the diet must be mainly liquid or semi-liquid. The following diet is more suitable for children with high fever:

1. Milk rice soup

Rice soup is rich in carbohydrates, can provide sufficient water and calories, and is easily digested by the stomach and intestines. Moreover, the carbohydrates in rice water can convert the indigestible casein molecules in milk into molecules that are easy to digest and absorb. The preparation method of milk rice soup is very simple. You just need to wash the rice slightly, add clean water to boil it, filter out the rice residue, add milk and mix well.

2. Milk powder

It is mainly plant protein, and its nutrition is similar to milk, but it is easy to digest and absorb. It can be diluted and drunk according to the age and needs of the child.

3. Millet porridge

It is mainly composed of plant protein and carbohydrates, rich in nutrition and moderate in calories, making it most suitable for sick and weak young children.

4. Fresh juice

Fresh fruits are rich in vitamins and contain a lot of water. After squeezing the juice, add an appropriate amount of warm water and honey.
