How to treat children's teeth grinding at night

Many parents ignore the phenomenon of children grinding their teeth. It is very common in our lives. I believe many parents have noticed it, but how many of them really pay attention to it? Most parents think that teeth grinding is normal. In fact, frequent teeth grinding will damage the teeth, especially for children, who are in the stage of teeth growth. So, how to treat children’s teeth grinding at night?

In the past, most people believed that bruxism was caused by roundworms. However, now that sanitary conditions have improved, the infection rate of roundworms has been greatly reduced. Therefore, roundworm infection is no longer the main cause of bruxism. Other factors should be considered:

1. If the occlusal joint develops abnormally and the occlusal disorder destroys the coordination of the chewing organs, the occlusal disorder will be removed by increasing the grinding of the teeth.

2. Being overly excited before going to bed causes the nervous system to remain in an excited state after falling asleep, and increased tension in the jaw muscles can also cause bruxism.

3. Eating too much for dinner or having a snack right before going to bed will overload the digestive system, and the gastrointestinal tract will continue working after falling asleep, and the chewing muscles will also move accordingly, causing teeth grinding.

4. Tension and stress can also cause teeth grinding. Grinding your teeth occasionally shouldn't cause any significant damage. You can let your child take a warm bath before going to bed, avoid being too excited, and not watch thrilling movies. Don't eat dinner too late or too much. Eat more hard, coarse grains and fruits that can exercise the chewing muscles, such as whole wheat bread, apples, and pears. This is beneficial to tooth development and reduces bruxism.

Warm reminder: Grinding teeth every night will wear down the teeth prematurely, exposing the dental pulp and causing tooth allergies. This situation should be taken seriously by parents, and they should go to the hospital for examination in time to rule out whether it is an occlusal disorder or calcium deficiency.

Parents should pay attention to the problem of children grinding their teeth. Frequent teeth grinding at night will damage the health of teeth and is not good for the health of children. How to treat children’s teeth grinding at night? There are many methods, and the most important thing is to find out the cause first and then actively treat it. I hope parents can take their children to the hospital for examination in time!
