What are the symptoms of acute pharyngitis in children?

Pharyngitis is a respiratory infection disease that occurs in the throat. It is easily induced when you have a sore throat, a cold, or lack of water in your body. When pharyngitis occurs, your throat will hurt, and even talking and drinking will be seriously affected. And not only adults can suffer from pharyngitis, children also often get acute pharyngitis. First, let's take a look at the symptoms of acute pharyngitis in children!

The symptoms of acute pharyngitis are quite obvious, so it is easy for us to identify it. There are many treatments for acute pharyngitis. We can use general treatments, local treatments, and anti-infection treatments.

Acute pharyngitis is an acute inflammation of the pharyngeal mucosa, submucosal tissue and lymphatic tissue. It is most common in winter and spring and is usually caused by viruses or bacteria. Most of them are secondary to acute rhinitis, acute sinusitis, acute tonsillitis, and are often complications of infectious diseases such as measles, influenza, and scarlet fever. Catching cold, fatigue, long-term stimulation by chemical gases or dust, excessive smoking, etc., can reduce the body's resistance and these factors can easily lead to the occurrence of this disease.

The onset is acute. At the beginning, the throat is dry and burning, followed by pain. The pain worsens when swallowing and can radiate to the ears. Sometimes there is general discomfort, joint pain, headache, loss of appetite and fever to varying degrees. Examination showed diffuse congestion and swelling of the oropharyngeal and nasopharyngeal mucosa, edema of the palatine arch and suspensory pterygium, redness and swelling of the posterior pharyngeal wall lymph follicles and lateral pharyngeal cords; there were yellow-white punctate exudates on the surface, and the mandibular lymph nodes were enlarged and tender. The body temperature may rise to 38°C, and the white blood cell count may be increased, normal, or decreased depending on the pathogen.

After reading the above content, I have introduced the symptoms of acute pharyngitis in children. It can be seen that the symptoms are still very obvious. When parents find that their baby has a similar situation, they should seek timely treatment. It is best to rest in bed, drink plenty of water, and take local treatments, such as taking some throat lozenges or injecting some antiviral drugs.
