What to eat for a four month old baby

What to eat for a four month old baby

We all know that breast milk is the most natural and safe food, but as the baby grows day by day, the food needs will change at different times. Especially after the baby is four months old, it is necessary to start adding some complementary foods to ensure sufficient nutrition for the baby's body growth. However, when the baby just starts to add complementary foods, many parents don’t know what to feed the baby, and don’t know if it will cause harm to the baby’s stomach. Let’s learn about what to feed a four-month-old baby.

What to eat for a four month old baby

When adding complementary foods to your baby, do it one by one. Observe whether your baby has an allergic reaction before continuing to add other complementary foods. You can't mistake complementary food for milk powder. Eating complementary foods at this stage only lays the foundation for good eating habits in the future.

Egg yolk, fruit puree, rice cereal. When steaming eggs, you have to remove the egg white and use only the egg yolk. Babies at this stage cannot absorb egg white.

Egg yolk (about one a day), rice noodles, beef crisps, pork floss, homemade applesauce, banana puree, homemade rice porridge (with spinach leaves and meat floss). Because the baby has not yet grown teeth, liver-like foods have not been added. After the baby has grown teeth, consider adding chicken liver and pork liver-like foods to the baby.

Simple early food recipes (4-6 months)

1. Among grains and root vegetables, it is best to start with rice porridge or wheat porridge. When the baby is used to rice porridge, try other foods.

2. Choose fresh vegetables and fruits as much as possible and make soups or diluted juices to feed your baby.

3. Choose fruits with skins and fruits that are less likely to be contaminated by pesticides and infected by pathogens, such as oranges, apples, bananas, papayas, etc.

Recommended daily intake

Grains and root vegetables: rice paste or wheat paste, 3/4-1 bowl.

Vegetables: carrot, spinach and other vegetable soup, 1/3-2/3 teaspoon.

Fruits: Diluted juice of orange, apple, grape, etc., 1/3-2/3 teaspoon.

Vegetable soup - wash and chop dark green, yellow-red vegetables, such as spinach and carrots, add a little water and bring to a boil, then let it cool slightly and pour out the soup.

Fruit puree - Choose fruits with more flesh and less fiber, such as bananas, papayas, apples, etc. After washing and peeling, use a spoon to scoop out the flesh and mash it into puree.

Carrot porridge: 2 teaspoons of rice, 120 ml of water, a teaspoon of filtered carrots. Wash the rice and soak it in water for 1 to 2 hours. Then put it in a pot and cook it over low heat for 40 to 50 minutes. Add the filtered carrots shortly before turning off the heat and cook for about 10 minutes.

Egg batter: 1/2 filtered egg yolk, 3 tablespoons broth and a little starch. Crush 1/2 of a cooked egg yolk and put it into the pot with the broth and cook it on high heat. Then mix the starch with water and pour it into the pot and cook until it becomes viscous.

The above is an introduction to what is good for a four-month-old baby to eat. After understanding it, we know that adding complementary foods to babies should also be a gradual process. We must start adding them one by one, so that it is convenient to observe which food the baby is allergic to. After the baby is four months old, we can give the baby some egg yolks or rice noodles and other foods appropriately, but don’t feed the baby too much. Breast milk or milk powder must be the main food.
