How should ascariasis in children be checked?

I think many people are like me. When we were young, our parents made us take a very strange white pill, which they said was for roundworms. Perhaps we were very young at that time and didn't even know what deworming meant. Ascaris is a parasite that lives in our intestines, especially in children. So many mothers begin to worry about how to know if their children have roundworms. Let’s take a look at how to check for roundworm disease in children.

Parents can judge whether their children have ascariasis through the following four symptoms:

1) Children with ascariasis often have red spots on the tongue with neat edges and a round shape. They may protrude from the tongue and are papillary-like. The spots vary in number and location.

2) Needle-tip rice-like granular papules can be seen on the child's lower lip mucosa, mostly grayish white.

3) Blue patches often appear on the child's sclera, which are triangular, circular or crescent-shaped and mostly distributed at the top of the scleral reticular capillaries and do not protrude from the surface.

4) White spots can be seen on the face, which are generally round in shape, with neat edges, pale white in the middle, and do not protrude from the skin and mucous membranes.

Warm Tips for Prevention of Ascariasis in Children

1) Extensive health publicity must be carried out to ensure good environmental hygiene, including not urinating or defecating in public, properly accumulating fertilizer and applying manure, and keeping water and food uncontaminated;

2) Educate children to develop good hygiene habits, such as cutting their nails frequently, washing hands before and after meals, not drinking raw water, not eating raw vegetables, and peeling fruits before eating them.

Deworming treatment

Broad-spectrum anthelmintics can kill roundworms, hookworms, etc. The insecticidal mechanism is that the drug selectively and irreversibly inhibits the worm's glucose uptake, causing the worm's endogenous glycogen to be depleted and inhibits fumarate reductase, hindering the production of adenosine triphosphate, making the worm unable to survive and reproduce and eventually die.

After a child is infected with ascariasis, I think it can be observed in some details of life. I hope that mothers can keep in mind the symptoms summarized above. Mothers should learn to observe their children's health problems from every aspect of life. I believe that every mother hopes that her children can grow up healthy, strong and happy.
