What is the normal blood sugar level for newborn babies?

Blood sugar mainly refers to the sugar content in a person's blood. Whether it is high or low blood sugar, it will cause many uncomfortable reactions to the human body. The blood sugar level of a newborn is very different from that of an adult, and parents should also pay attention to the blood sugar level in the newborn's blood, so as to effectively rule out some congenital diseases. So for newborns, what is the normal range of blood sugar levels?

The normal blood sugar value for newborns is generally 3.9~6.1 mmol/L. Whole blood blood sugar less than 2.2 mmol/L is hypoglycemia, and higher than 7.0 mmol/L is hyperglycemia. Blood oxygen saturation ranges from 85 to 100%.

1. After a newborn is born, the blood sugar concentration will naturally decrease and then increase, and many newborns with hypoglycemia do not have any symptoms or signs, so blood sugar should be tested after birth, and high-risk infants need to have their blood sugar tested repeatedly. Because hypoglycemia can cause brain damage, blood sugar levels in newborns should generally be maintained at a normal to high level.

2. The blood oxygen saturation of newborns is above 85%, and the normal blood oxygen saturation of newborns is around 95%.

3. The diagnostic criteria for neonatal diabetes are stricter than those for adults. The normal blood sugar level of newborns: fasting blood sugar 11, 1 mmol / L (200 mg / dL) are both considered impaired glucose tolerance.

The above is the normal range of blood sugar for newborns. If your child's blood sugar index is too high or too low, you should pay attention. If you don't understand, you can ask a doctor or nurse. Don't feed your child anything without permission.
