Many parents like to wait until their children have played enough and give them a bath before going to bed. But doing so often leads to two completely opposite results: some children will fall asleep immediately, while others will toss and turn in bed and cannot sleep. From a medical point of view, it is best not to let children go to bed immediately after taking a bath, otherwise it will have a certain impact on their growth and development.

The body is in a tired state. After taking a shower, blood circulation in the whole body speeds up, the body's metabolism is enhanced, and the brain's oxygen consumption increases. After taking a shower, the body will be in a very tired state due to excessive energy consumption. If children are allowed to go to sleep immediately at this time, some of them will fall asleep immediately, but this is a forced sleep state, which is not good for their health.

Increased body temperature is not conducive to sleep

Excessive body temperature will inhibit the secretion of melatonin in the child's brain, and melatonin plays a very important role in reducing the time it takes to fall asleep and prolonging sleep time. It can be said that the level of melatonin at night directly affects our sleep quality. Therefore, some children will have difficulty falling asleep, their sleep will be easily interrupted, and their sleep time will be short if they go to bed immediately after taking a bath.

Easy to catch cold

The child has just taken a bath and the capillaries throughout the body are in a state of expansion, making it easy to be invaded by external evils. Furthermore, children are more active during the day, their metabolism increases, and their immune cells are very active, so their resistance to the outside world is stronger; on the contrary, children's resistance will be relatively reduced at night, and will reach the lowest in the early morning. Therefore, when children's resistance is relatively low at night, going to bed immediately after taking a bath will increase the chance of being invaded by germs.

What to do: The mother should bathe the child about an hour and a half before going to bed. You may tell the child stories or listen to music after the bath to help him relax completely. By the time he goes to bed, his body temperature will have dropped to the best temperature for sleep. If the child must take a bath before going to bed for some reason, we can lower the water temperature appropriately, shorten the bathing time, and apply a cold towel to the forehead after bathing depending on the situation. This helps lower head temperature and improve sleep quality.

Have dinner before seven. The baby's life rhythm is different from that of adults. Adults should cooperate with the baby. Dinner should be arranged before 7 o'clock and finished at least 2 hours before bedtime. This will give the baby enough time to digest and help him fall asleep.

Don't take a nap past 3pm. Taking a nap for too long during the day will disrupt your baby's biological clock. I am still active at night and don't feel sleepy. Therefore, your baby’s nap should not be later than 3 pm.

Have breakfast in the sunshine. To get a good night's sleep, it's important to keep your body clock in rhythm. Studies have shown that sun exposure can help eliminate jet lag and correct the rhythm of the biological clock. When the sun is out, it is advisable to open the window to let the sun in, let the baby bathe in the sun, and eat breakfast at the same time, which is conducive to a good sleep at night.

It is okay to bathe the baby before going to bed, but you have to wait for a while before letting the child go to sleep after taking a bath. This way, the baby will not easily catch a cold and will not have various discomforts. The baby can sleep well after taking a bath at night.
