What to do if your child has ADHD?

What to do if your child has ADHD?

In our current lives, many parents hope that their children are well-behaved and obedient, and often worry whether their children's liveliness is a manifestation of ADHD. Today, I will analyze with you the situation of children's hyperactivity. I also hope that all young parents and friends can recognize the true nature of ADHD and never misunderstand their children’s liveliness in life.

ADHD, also known as attention deficit hyperactivity disorder or mild brain dysfunction syndrome, is a common behavioral disorder in children.

The intelligence of these children is normal or basically normal, but they have defects in learning, behavior and emotions, which are mainly manifested in inattention, short attention span, excessive activity, impulsive emotions, generally poor academic performance, and difficulty getting along with others at home and school. In daily life, parents and teachers often feel helpless.

The prevalence of ADHD is reported to be between 5% and 10% abroad, and domestic surveys show it is above 10%. Boys are more likely to suffer from ADHD than girls. Premature babies and babies born by cesarean section have a higher chance of suffering from ADHD, about 60% or more.

Genetic factors

Studies have shown that this disorder is related to genetic factors, with a heritability of 0.75-0.91. The mode of inheritance is still unclear and may be multi-gene inheritance. Molecular genetic studies have shown that the disorder is associated with polymorphisms in the dopamine receptor gene.

Neurophysiological factors

Children with this disorder have a high rate of EEG abnormalities, with the main normal being slow-wave activity. Adding EEG power spectrum analysis registration found that the slow wave power increased, the alpha wave power decreased, and the average frequency decreased. This suggests that children with this disorder have delayed central nervous system maturation or insufficient awakening of the cerebral cortex.

1. Often fail to pay attention to details and make careless mistakes in schoolwork, work, or other activities;

2. It is difficult to maintain concentration when doing things or activities;

3. When others talk to him, he often acts as if he is not listening;

4. Often has difficulty following instructions and is unable to complete homework, chores, or work (not due to contrary behavior or inability to understand instructions)

I wonder if after reading the above description, young parents and friends will have a more comprehensive understanding of children's ADHD through my analysis from the most scientific perspective. Therefore, through these professional standards, we can effectively distinguish whether a child is healthy or not. I hope that all babies can grow up healthy, happy and worry-free.
