Vomiting up milk is a common problem for infants and young children. Whether they are breastfed or fed with formula milk, it may cause the child to spit up milk. Some babies spit up milk just because they eat too much or inhale air, which is excreted when they burp. However, some children spit up milk in a projectile manner and often spit up milk curds. This is caused by indigestion or gastrointestinal problems. Why do I vomit milk frequently? There are two reasons why babies often spit up milk: first, the cardiac sphincter at the junction of the baby's esophagus and stomach is not fully developed, the cardia connecting to the esophagus is wider and has poor closing effect, and the pylorus connecting to the small intestine is tighter. The baby often inhales air when feeding, and the milk easily flows back into the mouth, causing spitting up milk. Second, the baby's stomach is in a horizontal position and has a small capacity, so when the baby is feeding, the milk fails to enter the stomach in time, which can easily cause the baby to spit up milk. Prevents baby from spitting up milk 1. Adopt a suitable feeding posture: try to hold the baby while feeding, so that the baby's body is tilted at about 45 degrees, and the milk in the stomach will naturally flow into the small intestine. This will reduce the chance of vomiting compared to feeding while lying down. 2. Pat the baby’s back after feeding to expel the air inhaled into the stomach during milk feeding, until the baby burps. 3. The amount of milk should not be too much and the intervals between feedings should not be too close. If the baby's spitting up is not due to incorrect feeding posture or the baby continues to spit up after burping, you should take the baby to the doctor in time to find out the reason for the baby's spitting up to avoid affecting the baby's health. At the same time, do not shake the baby violently right after feeding. Violent shaking is also one of the important factors causing the baby to spit up. Therefore, after the baby finishes feeding, you should first burp the baby, and then hold the baby upright for about half an hour to better prevent the baby from spitting up. |
