Newborn baby routine

Newborn baby routine

Many parents think that newborns only need to eat and sleep, and as long as they get enough sleep and eat enough every day, there is no need to worry about anything else. In fact, newborns should also have a regular schedule. We often find in life that newborns will cry incessantly or make trouble. Many parents are not aware of this and think that the baby cries because he is hungry. In fact, the crying or making trouble of newborns is not only reflected in hunger. Only by establishing a regular schedule for the baby can we better observe the baby's dynamics.

How old is the baby's sleep and rest regular?

Babies are considered newborns from birth to 3 months. Newborns usually eat and sleep, and their wakefulness time will gradually increase when they are 3 weeks old. There is no obvious pattern in their sleep, which can be as short as 30-45 minutes or as long as 3-4 hours. After 3 months, the baby's sleep is much more regular than that of a newborn, and he or she has some self-regulation ability. They begin sleeping more at night and spending more time awake during the day.

Most 4-month-old babies will still wake up 1-3 times at night, and many babies will have 1-3 night feedings until they are 9 months old. Babies show great differences in their performance at this stage. Some angel babies can already sleep through the night, while some are sleep demons who cannot fall asleep unless they are held, and their tendency to explode as soon as they touch the bed is becoming more and more serious. Either one is normal. It has something to do with the child's natural personality and the caregiver's parenting style. Generally speaking, 4 months is the most appropriate time to start sleep training.

How to help children establish a regular routine

1. Respect your baby's rhythm. Don't rush your baby or make him/her feel stressed. Make adjustments based on his/her age, developmental characteristics and needs. Don't make rigid requirements as each family has different conditions and habits. Adjust your schedule as the seasons change.

2. Create a good environment before going to bed. Try not to turn on the main lights, and only turn on the soft small wall lamps, so that the baby will know it is time to go to bed as soon as he sees the small wall lamp light up. In addition, you should prepare a soft children's pillow and breathable bedding for your baby, hang a small mosquito net, etc., to create a warm and comfortable sleeping environment for him.

3. Preparation work should also be regular. Before eating, your baby must wash his hands and wipe his mouth. Parents should insist on doing this whether eating at home or outside. Bathing and washing your baby's face before going to bed at night should also be done at a specific time, so as to establish a conditioned reflex of going to bed after washing and washing after getting up, and finally achieve a regular schedule.

4. Parents should set a good example. Children's daily routines are related to their parents' daily routines, and their concept of time is related to their parents' work style. Therefore, parents should set a good example for their children and ensure that their babies get enough sleep. It is best to go to bed around 9 o'clock and get up to do your own things after the baby falls asleep.

A baby's daily routine is formed gradually, and a step-by-step approach is also appropriate here. Parents should be calm and not be impatient or intervene too much. In addition, you need to be patient and play a good role in helping and guiding. Of course, your own sleeping habits will also have a subtle influence on your child, so in order to cultivate a baby with regular sleep, you must also go to bed early and get up early!
