Newborn red birthmark, mothers must see

Red birthmarks are also a type of birthmark that is more common in newborns, but if the red birthmark is not removed in time, it will accompany the child throughout his or her life, so everyone must take the child for treatment as soon as possible.

Red birthmarks, also known as port-wine stains, port-wine stains or telangiectatic nevi, appear at birth and are more common on the face and neck. They are mostly unilateral and occasionally bilateral.

Birthmark characteristics

Port-wine stain, also known as nevus flammeus, initially appears as several or varying sizes of light red, dark red or purple-red patches with irregular shapes, clear borders, visible capillary dilation and a smooth surface. As age increases, the color deepens and turns red, and some lesions may gradually expand, thicken, or develop nodules. Port wine stain is a congenital microvenous malformation that will not disappear on its own if not treated.

Treatment

Port wine stains are treated with 595 mm dye laser. This method uses the principle of selective photothermal action to cause blood vessels to coagulate and necrotize, thereby being absorbed by the phagocytic system and excreted from the body through the lymphatic circulation. Because it only targets hemoglobin coagulation in an instant, it has no effect on normal skin. Lighter-colored port-wine stains will show some effect after just one treatment.
