In daily life, teeth are very important to us. Everyone hopes that their teeth are neat and without gaps. Sometimes, a baby's teeth are very straight when they are young, but as they grow older, the gaps between their teeth will become wider. There are many reasons for the widening of the gaps between a baby's teeth. It may be that the baby's canine teeth are about to grow, or it may be that the baby teeth have fallen out, but the new teeth have not yet grown out. Reason 1: Lip frenulum. The low attachment of the lip frenulum is a common cause of wide gap between the central incisors. The lip frenulum is quite thick during the embryonic period and will gradually retract after the baby is born. If it does not retract and is attached too low between the gums, it will cause the gap between the upper front teeth to be too wide. Reason 2: The deciduous incisors fall out early and the permanent incisors have not yet grown out. If the deciduous incisors fall out early and the permanent incisors have not yet grown out, gaps will form between the incisors. Some children lose their four deciduous incisors and only have two permanent incisors, which can easily cause a gap between the two central incisors. There is no need to worry too much about this situation. As the lateral incisors gradually grow out, the long axis direction of the two central incisors will change accordingly and move closer to each other, and the gap between the two teeth will naturally disappear gradually. Reason three: supernumerary teeth are the cause. Under normal circumstances, each person has 28 to 32 permanent teeth, but some children often grow one or two extra deformed teeth on the labial, middle or palatal side of the upper incisors, which seriously affects the growth and arrangement of normal permanent teeth and causes the gap between the upper incisors to widen. Reason 4: Displaced teeth are impacted. Displaced teeth buried between the roots of the front teeth can also cause the gap between the child's upper front teeth to be too wide. In this case, an X-ray examination is required to check for abnormalities in the jaw, such as impacted, displaced teeth or supernumerary teeth, and to perform surgical treatment in a timely manner. Never use a rubber band to pull your front teeth towards the middle. If you use too much force, it may damage the teeth or even make them loose and fall out. If you find that your child has a wide gap between his or her front teeth, you can take your child to a professional dental hospital for examination to find out the specific cause. If it does not interfere with the child's life, you can temporarily stop treatment. However, if it has already interfered with the child's life, appropriate treatment must be given in a timely manner. |
