What to do if your child cries when entering kindergarten

Many children will cry non-stop when they first start entering kindergarten. This is because at this time they have just left their parents and gone to a completely new environment. They will feel particularly insecure, and there are no familiar people in this new environment. Therefore, their crying is the best protection for themselves. So what should we do if children cry when entering kindergarten?

Children cry when they enter kindergarten, which is also because they have not yet learned a good farewell behavior that can replace "crying". If parents can insist on sending their children to kindergarten in a happy and peaceful state, without being anxious, blaming, or making requests that their children cannot understand on the way, and at the same time say goodbye to their children happily at the door, and the teacher at the door can also greet them in a friendly and kind manner, and say goodbye to their parents with them, then the children will soon learn good farewell habits, thus replacing the past "crying goodbye".

Everything will be fine once the child enters the class. This is related to the psychological characteristics of children of this age group. One reason is that the thinking characteristics of children at this age are "situational" and are easily influenced by the situation. For example, some children will cry for no reason when they see others crying. This is determined by the "situation". So when the child leaves the current sad environment, he will recover quickly.

Secondly, this performance is also related to the persistence of attention. Children of this age group cannot pay attention for long and their attention is easily diverted. Once they enter the classroom, unless they cry and see new things, their attention will be quickly diverted. Therefore, the child is not crying to show it to the parents, but his current development has only reached this stage.

This reason is somewhat similar to the above reason. Children aged 2-4 years old think in a situational and figurative way. Parents cannot ask such abstract questions, such as "Is it good?" or "Is it interesting?". These questions are difficult to answer because children cannot understand them. Secondly, even if the teacher is not good to the child, the child will not be able to recall the specific situation except for some emotions once he leaves that situation.

The reason why the child finally answers "no" is also related to the emotional or verbal cues of the parents. The child sees which answer you care about most, so he uses "no" to fulfill his parents' wishes. For example, if the answer is "good", parents will think that the child answers too quickly without thinking, so they will repeatedly ask, "Really?", "How is it good?" and so on, eventually making the child think that you like the answer "no".

Some parents like to ask their children questions like "Are you happy?" and "Are you happy?". If the child's parents have provided healthy emotional guidance and management since childhood, then the child will be able to answer such questions. But if there is no guidance in this aspect, then the child’s answers will be “random”.

Therefore, if parents want to understand their children's situation in kindergarten, there are two most direct methods: one is to observe the children's emotions, because emotions are the most obvious, and children are good at using them and will not disguise; the second is to understand by playing games with their children, such as role-playing games, storytelling, etc. Finally, communicate with the teacher to solve the problem.
