What are the height and weight standards for 12-year-old children?

Height and weight are extremely important for growing teenagers. Although living conditions have improved now, the height of children is a concern for every parent. If a child is shorter than children of the same age, they will think that the child is not getting enough nutrition or they may be afraid that the child has low self-esteem. So parents are very concerned about their children's height. So what are the height and weight standards for 12-year-old children? The following is a list of formulas for calculating height and weight so you can understand.

The normal height of a newborn is 50 cm. The average growth rate of a newborn baby is 2.5 cm per month in the first six months after birth, and 1.5 cm per month in the second half of the year. The weight of a one-year-old baby is 75 cm. The weight of a two-year-old baby is 85 cm. The average growth rate is 5 cm per year. Therefore, the formula for calculating the height between 2 and 12 years old is height = (age - 2) times 575.

At present, there is no unified standard weight data in our country. There are two commonly used calculation methods:

One is:

Adult: (height (cm) - 100) * 0.9 = standard weight (kg)

Another one is:

Male: Height (cm) - 105 = Standard weight (kg),

Female: Height (cm) - 100 = Standard weight (kg)

The above two calculation methods have basically been widely adopted.

In addition, the Academy of Military Sciences has also introduced a method to calculate the ideal weight of Chinese people:

Ideal weight for northerners (kg) = (height cm - 150) x 0.6 + 50

The ideal weight of southerners (kg) = (height in cm - 150) x 0.6 + 48. This calculation method seems to be more suitable for Chinese people in the north and south.

The simple method to calculate the standard weight of children is: 1 to 6 months: birth weight (kg) + age in months x 0.6 = standard weight (kg); 7 to 12 months: birth weight (kg) + age in months x 0.5 = standard weight (kg); over 1 year old: 8 + age x 2 = standard weight (kg)

However, since human weight is related to many factors and varies between different human bodies, there will be certain changes at different times of the same day. In addition, differences in geographical location (such as due to gravity), season, climate, and personal conditions also have a certain impact on weight, making it difficult to completely meet the standard weight.

In other words, it is difficult to express it with a constant value, but rather a numerical range. We call this numerical range the normal value, which is generally within the range of +-10% of the standard body weight. Anything beyond this range is considered abnormal weight.

If the actual weight exceeds the standard weight but the excess is less than 20%, it is considered overweight.

If the actual weight exceeds the standard weight by more than 20% and the fat percentage (F%) exceeds 30%, it can be diagnosed as obesity.

Those whose weight exceeds the standard weight by 30% to 50% and whose F% exceeds 35% to 45% are considered moderately obese.

Those who exceed the standard weight by more than 50% and whose F% exceeds 45% are considered to have severe obesity.

After reading the above calculation formula, various numbers of your child have emerged in your mind. Let’s calculate them according to the child’s age and height. In fact, the height and weight of children are not a big problem at all, as long as the child is healthy, so don’t pay too much attention to the number. The number is just an approximation and not absolute. I wish your child healthy growth!
