What to do if your child has a persistent low-grade fever

Children's fever is the most troublesome problem for us parents. Since children themselves cannot perceive and express where they are uncomfortable, most children will just cry constantly when they have a fever, which makes parents helpless. Therefore, it is very important to understand and know some fever-related symptoms of children for correct response and care. Today we are going to discuss the problem of persistent low fever in children caused by colds.

A low-grade fever refers to a body temperature between 37.3℃ and 38℃. Long-term low-grade fever refers to a fever that lasts for more than two weeks, excluding intermittent fever. There are many reasons for low fever. It is one of the symptoms of a cold, which is caused by viruses, bacteria and their metabolites stimulating the body to release excessive endogenous substances such as prostaglandins, which act on the body temperature regulation center to increase the body temperature regulation point.

Treatment advice:

This is a fever caused by a cold. If there is no clear test showing that it is a mycoplasma infection, it is not recommended that you use roxithromycin because its gastrointestinal irritation symptoms are too obvious. The usual treatment for infant colds is:

First, antiviral treatment can be treated by taking traditional Chinese medicines with heat-clearing and detoxifying effects, such as Shuanghuanglian.

The second is antibacterial treatment, which can take penicillin or cephalosporin antibiotics, but the duration should be more than one week;

Third, symptomatic treatment. For example, if you have a fever, you may use ibuprofen or nimesulide to reduce the temperature. However, these drugs have a short half-life and cannot maintain the cooling effect all night. It is recommended that you prepare a box of pediatric antipyretic suppositories for your child to use before going to bed to prevent high fever convulsions caused by sudden increase in body temperature at night.

Of course, if it is a viral cold, there is no specific medicine. You can take ribavirin granules or pediatric paracetamol granules for treatment. In addition, you need to take good care of your baby and alleviate the symptoms. Generally, after seven to ten days of recuperation, the cold will be cured. If it is caused by bacteria, you need to take antibiotics and anti-inflammatory drugs under the guidance of a doctor.

Above we have explained the problem of persistent low-grade fever caused by cold infection in children, and we have a certain understanding of its drug treatment. Of course, if the situation is serious, it is recommended to go to the hospital for diagnosis by a doctor to avoid the abuse of antibiotics. In addition, in terms of care and diet therapy, it is recommended to drink more water and supplement vitamin C, and you can also drink some fresh fruit juice appropriately, and have light meals.
