Do babies all get rashes?

Rashes are a common phenomenon in life, especially in children. Generally speaking, most children will experience rashes. Therefore, if parents know more about rashes, they can deal with them in time when the baby has a rash. They can also take good care of the baby and reduce the harm caused by the rash to the baby. However, some parents do not know much about rashes.

Do babies all get rashes?

1. Although many children have experienced rashes, not every child will get a rash, so parents don’t need to worry too much. Children's rash, also known as infantile roseola, is a disease caused by viral infection and is a very common infectious disease among infants and young children. Usually the illness is not serious and the child recovers quickly.

2. Children should stay in bed and rest after the onset of the disease. When fever symptoms occur, they should be given plenty of boiled water to drink and eat foods that are easily digestible. If the child develops other symptoms when having a high fever, physical cooling methods can be used under the guidance of a doctor, or the child can take some antipyretic drugs, but parents should not give the child medication on their own.

3. Keep your child's skin clean and dry. When bathing your child, the temperature should be appropriate, not too cold or too hot.

Infants and young children will only develop a rash if they are infected by a virus. Not all children will develop rashes as some parents believe, and the disease will not become prevalent on a large scale.

Why do children have rashes?

1. Roseola infantum is an infectious disease. When a child comes into contact with the virus and becomes infected, roseola infantum will occur. Usually, children first develop fever symptoms, and the fever is high, and then the rash appears. Many times, parents think that their children simply have a fever in the early stages. After treatment, the child’s condition not only does not improve, but becomes much worse.

2. Although infant rash is an infectious disease, its infectiousness is relatively weak. The vast majority of patients are infants and young children between six months and two years old. It is most common in the age group of six months to one year old. Children are usually only infected once, and secondary infection is extremely rare. The incubation period is usually one to two weeks. It is generally sporadic and will not become an epidemic.

What to do if your child has a rash

1. If the child's body temperature exceeds 39°C when the child has a rash, physical cooling methods should be used to help the child cool down. You can use alcohol to wipe the body and apply cold compresses on the forehead to help the child cool down.

2. Use antiviral drugs under the guidance of a doctor. Antiviral medications are very effective when your child has a fever and rash. In addition, traditional Chinese medicine has certain advantages in the treatment of roseola infantum. Doctors may give children medicines that have the function of clearing away heat and detoxifying.

3. In the early stage of roseola infantum, the most important symptom is fever, so the most important thing in treatment is to reduce the child's temperature. However, parents should not use medications indiscriminately, and must use them according to the doctor's instructions.

4. When a child has a fever, do not cover him with too thick a quilt, and wipe his whole body regularly to keep his skin clean.
