What should I do if my four-month-old baby always has diarrhea?

The baby's immune system is relatively weak. When the temperature alternates between hot and cold or when the weather changes drastically, the baby will easily have diarrhea. If a four-month-old baby has symptoms of diarrhea, he must be taken to a regular hospital for treatment as soon as possible to determine the cause of the diarrhea. This way you can give the baby better treatment and help the baby recover faster. The following introduces corresponding antidiarrhea methods according to different types of diarrhea.

If the child has frequent bowel movements, the bowel movements are yellow and resemble egg drop soup, often with blood and mucus, and although the child has not eaten much milk, the bowel movements have a fishy smell, and the child cries and becomes irritable during bowel movements, this type of diarrhea is mostly caused by a pathogenic Escherichia coli, which is a common diarrhea in the neonatal period. It requires the use of 12 mg of anti-inflammatory drugs three times a day, as well as digestive medicines and oral rehydration salts to replenish water. It will take 4-5 days to recover.

Infants are as susceptible to "autumn diarrhea" as older children. It is caused by a wheel-shaped virus that can be seen under an electron microscope. The symptoms include fever, vomiting, cough, runny nose, etc. The stool is watery, thin, rice-soup-like, with little mucus and large amounts each time. There is no fishy smell. The infants cry and are irritable. It is difficult to treat. General anti-inflammatory drugs are ineffective. The only way is to enhance the resistance of the newborn. You can add some Chinese medicine and use digestive medicine such as Epidiolex, one tablet three times a day. Oral rehydration salt can be taken with water for about a week. In severe cases, you need to go to the hospital for treatment.

During the period when children have diarrhea, special attention should be paid to keeping them warm and their hygiene to prevent them from getting sick through the mouth and eating unhealthy foods. If the child is still breastfeeding, it is best for the mother not to eat too much greasy food so as not to increase the child's digestive burden. In addition, cold foods such as watermelon should also be avoided.
