Causes of hernia in baby girls

When it comes to the topic of hernia in baby girls, I believe many mothers are embarrassed to discuss it. However, you should know that the disease is not something difficult to talk about. It requires more discussion and more consultation with doctors to understand the cause of the disease, especially when the child is sick. Now let me lead everyone to understand the causes of hernia in baby girls. I hope it can help those in need.

1. Formation of hernia

Hernia is when part of the human body tissue or organ leaves its original location and enters another part through a gap, defect or weak part of the human body. Commonly known as "small intestinal gas", it includes umbilical hernia, direct inguinal hernia, indirect hernia, incisional hernia, surgical recurrent hernia, white line hernia, femoral hernia, etc. Hernia is mostly caused by coughing, sneezing, excessive force, abdominal fat, forceful defecation, pregnancy, excessive crying in children, and degenerative changes in the strength of the abdominal wall in the elderly. In female babies, the processus vaginalis extends from the abdominal cavity to the labia majora. The hernia sac of a baby girl will move along the round ligament, causing hernia or edema. In severe cases, the ovary, fallopian tube or even uterus may fall into the hernia sac.

2. Treatment of hernia

Pediatric hernia is more common in boys. It is a congenital oblique inguinal hernia caused by patent processus vaginalis in the inguinal canal. It manifests as a bulge in the inguinal area that can extend into the scrotum. It often disappears after lying down, and appears when standing, moving or crying. If incarceration occurs, a lump can be felt in the inguinal area, and there is tenderness. If a baby under six months old develops hernia, some of the children can recover on their own. The surgical method for hernia in children is different from that for adults. The treatment goal can be achieved by simply ligating the hernia sac high up. During the operation, the skin incision is only 1.5 to 2.0 cm, and there is no need to cut the inguinal canal. The hernia sac only needs to be pulled out and high ligated. The operation usually takes about twenty minutes to complete, and the hospital stay is only two to three days. The wound does not need to be closed with stitches. At present, many doctors still use the adult method of cutting the ventral canal to treat pediatric hernia, which is not very scientific. Because the inguinal canal is damaged, the surgical trauma is increased and the postoperative recovery time is prolonged. Therefore, when deciding to have surgery for a child, parents should consult the surgeon performing the surgery. In addition, patients are advised to pay attention to one point when choosing a doctor. Since the current medical market is still lacking in standardization, it is best to choose a pediatric surgery department in a more formal hospital for treatment to ensure the effectiveness of the treatment.

3. Precautions for patients with hernia

Hernia patients should try to avoid and reduce crying, coughing, constipation, anger, strenuous exercise, etc. Pay attention to rest, and when falling, gently push the hernia back into the abdominal cavity with your hands. Try to reduce running, standing or squatting for long periods of time, and lie down and rest when appropriate. Nutrition should be increased appropriately. You can eat some foods that have the effect of replenishing qi, such as lentils, yam, chicken, eggs, fish, meat, etc. Older children with hernia should do appropriate exercises to strengthen their physical fitness.

It is really heartbreaking for parents when their children are sick. Especially when a baby girl at home has a hernia, mothers will be even more anxious and don't know what to do. The best way is to try to let the child cry less in life, prevent the child from catching a cold, reduce coughing, and do not let the child run frequently or stand for too long. Only by protecting the child can parents feel at ease. That’s all for today.
