What to do if your 2-year-old baby has tears in his eyes

If a two-year-old baby has tears in his eyes, he should be taken to the hospital for examination as soon as possible. Parents should also pay attention to observe whether the child's conjunctiva is congested and whether the child's conjunctiva is thickened. It could be trachoma or conjunctivitis. If it is trachoma, the child's conjunctiva will be congested and the surface of the conjunctiva will be very rough, and it may also be accompanied by follicular hyperplasia.

Of course, tears in a 2-year-old baby's eyes may also be caused by eye irritation. For example, if you give onions to children without paying attention, the onions may cause irritation and cause tears. Tears in the eyes of a 2-year-old baby are often related to the stimulation of pathological changes in the cornea, iris, ciliary body and other tissues. Stimulation from smoke and chemicals can also cause tears.

If a 2-year-old baby has tears in his eyes, it may be due to blockage of the tear duct system. The normally secreted tears cannot be discharged into the nasal cavity smoothly, resulting in reflux and overflow. This can be confirmed clinically by tear duct flushing. When the lower eyelid is everted, the lacrimal puncta cannot be close to the lacrimal caruncle, which destroys the capillary drainage function of tears. Tears cannot enter the nasal cavity through the lacrimal canaliculus. Therefore, overflow is also the reason why 2-year-old babies shed tears. Patients with decreased orbicularis oculi muscle tone and facial nerve paralysis who cannot close their eyelids may experience tearing.

If a 2-year-old baby is tearing due to trachoma or conjunctivitis, you should pay attention to washing the towels used by the child frequently, and it is best to disinfect them every day. After washing, put it in the sun to dry. Ultraviolet rays have a good sterilization effect. You should also actively prevent your baby from catching a cold, because a cold or flu may cause conjunctivitis, which can cause your baby's eyes to tear.
