What should I do if my 40-day-old baby has eczema?

Infant eczema has many common names, such as milk rash or fetal toxins. It is a very common skin disease. Most infant eczema is related to the baby's weak constitution and poor immunity. Infants with allergies are more likely to suffer from eczema. Infants with poor digestive function are also more likely to suffer from eczema or skin diseases such as rashes. So how should infant eczema be treated?

Types of eczema

Moist type. It is more common in fatter babies and is distributed symmetrically on the top of the head, forehead, cheeks, etc. Close observation reveals erythema, small papules, small bags, erosions, and scabs. The overall condition is moist and there is exudation.

Dry type. It often occurs in thinner babies, with skin symptoms of redness, visible papules, bran-like scales, white skin falling off, no exudation, dryness, and rough skin.

Seborrheic type. It often occurs on the scalp, between the eyebrows, and the eyebrow arches, with a light yellow transparent seborrheic exudate, which looks oily and dirty.

Eczema distribution varies among different ages

Infant eczema on cheeks, extensor sides of trunk and limbs, knees and elbows.

Eczema in children, on the neck, feet, elbows and back of knees.

Eczema care

The characteristic of infant eczema is itching, even severe itching. The baby is very irritable and keeps rubbing his face with his little hands. The hand movements are uncoordinated and he rubs his face with his arms. Eczema will be more serious if the weather is hot, the indoor temperature is high, the baby is dressed too much, or the indoor air is not ventilated in winter. If the baby has eczema, the mother should keep the baby cooler, which will make the baby more comfortable and the eczema will not be so itchy. Deficiencies in nutrients such as vitamin D, calcium, and zinc can aggravate eczema.

Infants with more serious eczema will become increasingly insensitive to medication. Some patients with milder eczema symptoms may respond very well to medication, but they cannot be completely cured. If there is a slight improvement, it is important to insist on using the medication. Once you stop using the medication, it will easily relapse.
