What to do if your baby vomits after falling

What to do if your baby vomits after falling

Sometimes due to the carelessness and negligence of adults, babies often have various symptoms. At the same time, because babies are too small and their center of gravity is unstable, they are particularly prone to falling. Some children may vomit after falling because of bumping into something. It is normal for babies to vomit occasionally. It may be because they are overfed or other reasons. Many mothers have experienced solutions, but what should we do if babies vomit after falling?

Babies' heads are large and heavy, so they often hit their heads when they fall. Even if the baby makes a loud noise when falling, there is basically no need to worry as long as he stops crying immediately and there is nothing unusual in his appetite and the way he plays. In extremely rare cases, it may cause brain damage. If you have a serious fall, pay attention to what happens afterwards.

First things to do

Check for consciousness

Check for injuries

When your hands and feet cannot move and you cry out in pain when you touch them, check to see if you have a fracture or dislocation.

Situations that require immediate hospitalization

Unconsciousness, convulsions, persistent vomiting, ruptured wounds, heavy bleeding, and numbness of the hands and feet.

Emergency

If the baby is unconscious, continues to vomit, or has convulsions, do not move the baby and keep the baby lying still until the ambulance arrives.

When vomiting, let your child lie on his side with his face facing sideways to prevent vomitus from blocking the trachea.

If there is an injury or bleeding, check for any swelling. If the wound is large, press it with a clean towel.

When a swelling appears, apply cold compress with a wet towel for a while.

Conditions to watch

Cry loudly, but stop immediately, and there is no abnormal emotion.

There may be bumps and bruises on the face, but the complexion and mood are good.

Pay attention to the situation after observation

It was nothing at the time, but afterwards you often become dazed, your complexion gradually becomes worse, you feel weak all over, and you vomit frequently. If you experience the above symptoms, please go to the hospital (neurosurgery) immediately.

If the fall is severe, do not shower that day and avoid going out or playing outdoors. After going to bed, you should always check your complexion and other conditions.

The above measures are only for individual cases, and are applicable to situations where the baby has a relatively minor fall. If the fall is more serious and the baby vomits severely afterwards, it is recommended that the mother take the baby to the hospital for examination. After all, the baby is still young and many situations are unclear. At the same time, we also hope that adults can take good care of the baby and try to prevent him (her) from falling.
