Why do children not have diarrhea but have stomach pain?

Children's gastrointestinal system is imperfect and problems can easily occur, which can have an adverse effect on their physical health and development. Among them, children's diarrhea or stomach pain symptoms are relatively common in life and need to attract the attention of parents, because there are many reasons for these symptoms. Let's take a look at why children do not have diarrhea but have stomach pain? I hope parents can understand this.

1. Flatulence

The baby's stomach pain caused by bloating is mostly because the baby's digestive system is not yet fully developed. In this case of stomach pain, the baby will often cry suddenly and loudly, and the abdomen will be swollen, the legs and abdomen will curl up, and the two little hands will be clenched tightly. This kind of stomach pain caused by bloating will usually be relieved after the baby passes gas.

2. Mesenteric lymphadenitis

This is also an important cause of recurrent stomach pain in children, and these children usually have upper respiratory tract infections. The abdominal pain caused by mesenteric lymphadenitis in children is mostly spasmodic and dull pain, and the child will feel better between two pains. The pain symptoms can occur anywhere in the child's abdomen, but because the mesenteric lymph nodes are most abundant at the end of the ileum, patients often experience pain in the right lower abdomen and around the navel after inflammation, and it is often mistaken for appendicitis.

3. Stomach disease

Helicobacter pylori is a common pathogen that lives in the human gastric mucosa, and the human body is the only host of this pathogen. Once a child is infected with Helicobacter pylori, it is not easy for the body to clear it and it will gradually become a chronic infection, leading to diseases such as peptic ulcer and chronic gastritis. At this time, the child will experience symptoms such as abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, anorexia, abdominal distension, etc.

4. Intussusception

Generally, children under two years old are more likely to suffer from intussusception, especially those aged 4-10 months. Children with intussusception will experience sudden paroxysmal abdominal pain. The reason for the paroxysmal pain is the characteristics of intestinal peristalsis. When the peristaltic wave reaches the site of intussusception, there will be a feeling of pain. Therefore, when intussusception occurs, the child will suddenly cry very loudly while playing. When in pain, the child will also be pale and irritable.

5. Appendicitis

This is a common condition of acute abdomen in children. Because children's organs are more delicate, when acute appendicitis occurs, the condition is more serious than in adults and perforation is more likely to occur. In severe cases, diffuse peritonitis or even death may occur.
