Baby's throat is always wheezing

Baby's throat is always wheezing

If your baby's throat is always wheezing and accompanied by a lot of phlegm, it is mainly caused by an infection in the throat. At this time, we should clear the phlegm in the nasal cavity and throat, and adjust our diet and eat more light food. There are many reasons why babies always have wheezing throats. It may also be caused by symptoms of nasal congestion. It is recommended that everyone understand the cause of the disease.

Why is the newborn's throat wheezing?

The reason for snoring in the throat is related to the incomplete development of the baby's oral, nasopharyngeal junction and epiglottis. This situation mostly occurs in babies around 3 months old, and is more common in obese babies who are fed with starch as the staple food.

The production of phlegm is mostly caused by infection. When you hear phlegm in your baby's breathing, you can determine the location of the phlegm, which is in the throat. The nose or throat needs to be carefully cleared; if there is secretion in the trachea or lungs, regular expectoration is required.

Under normal circumstances, there will always be some secretions in the baby's mouth. For such a young baby, the swallowing function is not fully developed. If oral secretions flow into the trachea, the larynx will make snoring sounds. Because this secretion is not caused by infection or inflammation, anti-inflammatory, antitussive, and expectorant drugs are ineffective. This snoring sound in the baby's larynx will decrease or disappear as the baby grows older and the oronasopharyngeal junction and epiglottis gradually mature.

In addition to the possibility that the baby's throat makes wheezing sounds due to phlegm in the mouth, you should also rule out the possibility that the baby has some disease in the throat that causes the baby to make wheezing sounds. Therefore, for parents who cannot accurately determine whether their baby has phlegm in the throat, it is best to take the baby to a regular hospital for an examination in time.

My baby's throat makes a whirring sound like snoring. What's going on?

[Whirling sound caused by drinking milk too quickly]

When a child is feeding, the distance between the mouth and nose is relatively close, which blocks the nasal cavity. This is especially true when feeding at night. If the mother feeds the child while lying down without turning on the light, she will not be able to notice whether she is pressing on the child, resulting in a lack of distance between the mouth and nose, causing breathing difficulties. Or if the mother lies down immediately after feeding, too much milk will accumulate in the mouth and throat, which may cause a whistling sound.

[Whirling sound caused by cold]

When babies have a cold, their noses will be blocked and runny, but they don't know how to blow their noses, so the mucus always stays in their noses and makes a whirring sound.

[Whirling sound caused by bronchitis in children]

There is also an advanced reason, which is pediatric bronchitis, a complication caused by viral infections such as colds and influenza, which can also cause the baby's throat to whirr.

[Whirling sound caused by gastroesophageal reflux]

For infants, because the stomach is in a horizontal position and the lower esophageal sphincter is not strong enough, the milk in the stomach refluxes into the esophagus or mouth. This condition is called gastroesophageal reflux.

People generally believe that as long as a newborn's eating, drinking, defecating and urinating are normal, there will be nothing wrong with him. We should not underestimate this point. Some newborns do have problems, and due to the negligence of their parents, it may harm the children. Warm reminder: Parents must pay attention to observe the changes in the newborn's body.
