What to do if the new baby has poor digestion

Since infants' gastrointestinal functions are not yet fully developed, they are prone to poor digestion when they eat improperly. Not only will this cause diarrhea in infants, but they will also develop a certain resistance to food because they vomit after eating. Parents are reluctant to let their children take medication when they are too young, so they have been looking for healthy treatments without side effects. Here we will introduce what to do when a newborn baby has poor digestion.

Tui Na massage is a common physical therapy method in Traditional Chinese Medicine. It has the effect of dredging meridians and regulating internal organs. If the baby has a bad stomach and often suffers from indigestion, parents can learn several massage techniques.

1. Massage the palms. Mom and Dad hold the baby's fingers with their left hands, dip their right thumbs in talcum powder, and massage the baby's palms 50-100 times, either clockwise or counterclockwise.

2. Abdominal massage. Let the baby lie down, and mom and dad make circular movements with the baby's abdomen and navel as the center. After massaging clockwise for a while, turn counterclockwise for a while.

3. Foot massage. The Yongquan point is located in the sole of the foot. Mom and dad can press and rub the point with their fingers, either clockwise or counterclockwise, for 2-3 minutes.

When massaging your baby, you should use appropriate strength of technique and not make the baby feel uncomfortable. The room temperature should be above 22 degrees Celsius during massage. Massage should be done for about 5-10 minutes a day. Do not massage for too long to prevent the baby from being exposed and catching a cold. Tui na massage should be continued for more than three months for better results. Also, be careful not to do it when the baby is on an empty stomach before or immediately after a meal to avoid pressing on the baby's stomach and intestines.

The massage methods introduced in the above content can alleviate the symptoms caused by poor digestion to a certain extent, but it is recommended that parents take their children to undergo necessary medical examinations first. Only when it is confirmed that the symptoms are not caused by bacteria can they stop receiving drug treatment. Children should be taken care of for personal hygiene, such as washing hands and taking baths frequently.
