What to do if the baby has poor digestion

What to do if the baby has poor digestion

Because infants’ gastrointestinal functions are not yet fully developed, they often have symptoms of poor digestion, generally manifested as anorexia, vomiting, emotional instability, etc. Since they cannot express themselves verbally during infancy, they can only express their physical discomfort by crying. At this time, parents need to observe carefully. Because their children are too young, parents are unwilling to give them medication. So what should we do when a baby has poor digestion?

1. General treatment: Help the parents of the child recognize and understand the disease, guide them to improve the child's lifestyle, adjust the diet structure and habits, remove possible factors related to the symptoms, and improve the ability to relieve symptoms. Non-drug treatments include cognitive therapy, dietary adjustments, and changes in bowel habits. Psychological factors such as insomnia, anxiety, and depression are an important cause of FD in children. Children have poor tolerance to repeated upper abdominal discomfort symptoms such as abdominal pain and bloating, which may in turn trigger and aggravate the mental symptoms of the children. In recent years, cognitive behavioral therapy has received increasing attention in the treatment of children with FD.

2. Drug treatment: According to the clinical manifestations of the child and its relationship with meals, prokinetic drugs, antacids and acid suppressants can be used. The general course of treatment is 2-4 weeks.

3. Application of intestinal probiotics: In addition to inhibiting the growth of intestinal pathogens and enhancing the body's immune function, intestinal probiotics such as lactobacilli also participate in the digestion and decomposition of endogenous substances, promoting digestive function by enhancing or reducing the activity of digestive tract enzymes or producing various digestive enzymes.

4. Traditional Chinese medicine treatment: It is an important treatment method for functional gastrointestinal diseases.

The above are several treatment methods for babies with poor digestion. As parents, you should take good care of your children in details and not let them eat too much food at one time to prevent poor digestion. Pay attention to keeping your children warm. Babies like to feel things with their hands, so you should also pay attention to their hygiene and cleanliness.
