Nursing methods for low birth weight infants

Nursing methods for low birth weight infants

Nowadays, every family has only one child, and many children's parents are older, so everyone will pay special attention to their babies and not allow them to have any pain or discomfort, especially low birth weight babies. They will get more care from their parents, and all parents will do their best to love and protect them. I hope the following content is helpful to you.

For low birth weight babies, keeping warm is key because their temperature regulation center is not fully developed. The box temperature is determined by the weight of the low-birth-weight baby. Generally, the lighter the weight and the younger the gestational age, the higher the box temperature. Low birth weight infants with an Apgar score of 7 or above, no history of intrauterine infection or hypoxia, and generally good condition can be warmed by skin contact with the mother. Normal newborns should have skin contact with the mother for half an hour after birth to enhance the mother-child relationship and help the baby to start breastfeeding early. In addition to this, low birth weight infants can use the mother's body temperature to keep warm. The baby's skin is close to the mother's skin, and the contact time is longer than that of normal infants. The mother's body temperature can slowly raise the body temperature of the low birth weight infant to normal and relatively constant, and the baby can learn to suckle at any time in the mother's arms. Clinical observations have found that low-birth-weight babies enjoy natural warmth in their mothers' arms, which is more suitable for their lives than artificial heating in an incubator. The temperature of some low-birth-weight babies rises quickly in the incubator, but their body temperature drops when they are taken out of the incubator, causing unstable body temperature in low-birth-weight babies.

A warm water bath for low-birth-weight babies once a day can promote blood circulation, promote blood vessel dilation, and generate heat. Use water of appropriate temperature (38℃~40℃), add Bai Ai solution to the water, add 20ml of Bai Ai solution to 2000ml of water (Bai Ai solution is mild in nature, has bactericidal and disinfecting effects, and can prevent impetigo). Put the baby in the water, immerse the baby up to the neck, with the head exposed, soak for 10 minutes, and massage the limbs to prevent the occurrence of scleredema.

The temperature of low birth weight infants should be measured every 4 hours until the temperature becomes normal and constant for 3 days, then changed to twice a day, and the temperature should be maintained at 36.5℃~37.5℃.

Every move of a low birth weight baby will attract the attention of parents. The baby is too small and has no resistance, so it is easy to get sick. Therefore, once you see any reaction in the baby, you must see a doctor as soon as possible to ensure that they can reach the state of a normal baby as soon as possible. I hope all children can grow up healthily.
