How many times a day should a newborn baby poop?

We all know that babies have more bowel movements every day after they are born. This is mainly because they are breastfed every day, the food they eat is relatively thin, and their intestines are relatively fragile. However, if a baby has frequent bowel movements every day, it usually reflects some of their physical health conditions. In order to ensure the baby's development, let's take a detailed look at how many times a newborn baby has bowel movements a day.

It is normal for a ten-day-old baby to defecate five or six times a day. Babies are mainly fed with breast milk or formula. This is the case at the beginning, and after two or three months, it will become once every few days. Of course, this is also normal, which shows that the baby has a good absorption function, also known as "saving the stomach." At least wait until the baby is 6 months old and starts eating complementary foods, then the bowel movements will gradually become regular.

It is normal for newborn babies to have loose stools, because the baby's intestines are not well developed and cannot absorb nutrients. Especially for breastfed babies, the stools are very smooth, and they may defecate as many as 6 to 8 times a day. The stools are often soft, mostly watery and unformed, and slightly sour, which is all normal. When breastfeeding, mothers should be careful not to eat greasy, indigestible and spicy foods. Eat more vegetables and fruits, and the baby will not have diarrhea after the milk is slowly absorbed.

Some babies defecate 6 to 8 times a day, so mothers are particularly worried, thinking that the baby's stomach is not in good condition, which causes this situation. Mothers do not need to be too nervous. This is a relatively normal phenomenon. As the body develops, the baby's bowel movements will gradually decrease.
