How long is the treatment period for neonatal pneumonia?

Recently, I found that my child’s face was a little yellow, and I thought it was because he didn’t drink enough water? Just give your child more water. However, there was no improvement on the next day, so I immediately took the child to the hospital for a check-up. I was really shocked when I checked. The child is suffering from pneumonia. So, how long is the treatment period for neonatal pneumonia? Let me introduce it to you below.

Neonatal pneumonia is the most common infectious disease in the neonatal period, with high morbidity and mortality. It is characterized by diffuse lung lesions and atypical clinical manifestations.

Most neonatal pneumonia is caused by infection after birth, called late-onset pneumonia, which is mainly transmitted to the newborn through droplets after family members who have close contact with the newborn have a cold or respiratory infection; a few are infected in utero or during delivery. If not treated promptly, it can cause respiratory distress or even suffocation. In severe cases, lack of oxygen can cause brain damage, leaving permanent sequelae (such as epilepsy).

Neonatal pneumonia cannot be cured in one go, and it can recur. Pneumonia generally takes more than a week to treat, and 1 to 4 courses of treatment are required depending on the severity of the pneumonia.

Treatment of neonatal pneumonia is:

1. Chills and fever, cough with little sputum, stabbing pain in the chest and flanks, bitter taste in the mouth and dry throat, red tongue with thin coating, and stringy and rapid pulse: 30 grams each of Trichosanthes kirilowii and Cat's-eye Cacti, 15 grams each of Bupleurum, red and white peony roots, 10 grams each of Scutellaria baicalensis, Pinellia ternata, Citrus aurantium, Platycodon grandiflorum, and Morus alba bark, and 6 grams of Licorice.

2. Pain caused by coughing and spitting, difficulty breathing, coughing, wheezing and inability to lie down, white greasy tongue coating, deep and stringy pulse: 30 grams of Stemona japonica, 15 grams each of Trichosanthes kirilowii and Poria cocos, 11 grams of Lepidium officinale, 10 grams each of Morus alba bark, Perilla frutescens, Tangerine peel, Pinellia ternata, Zanthoxylum bungeanum, Allium macrostemon, and Citrus aurantium, and 6 grams of Licorice.

3. Chest pain, tightness in the chest, difficulty breathing, prolonged duration, dark purple tongue, white fur, stringy pulse: 30g of Coix seed, 15g each of Trichosanthes, Red Peony Root, and Poria, 10g each of Inula flower, Perilla frutescens, Apricot kernel, Pinellia, Cyperus rotundus, Tangerine peel, Citrus aurantium, and Rhizoma Smilacis Glabrae, and 6g each of processed Rumosum (wrapped and decocted).

The above is the content of the treatment cycle of neonatal pneumonia. The editor will introduce it to you here. If your children have this symptom, tell them to take their children to treatment in time and don't delay. For more knowledge, you can follow the editor at any time. The editor will continue to contribute sincerely to everyone.
