What to do if your baby is a light sleeper

What to do if your baby is a light sleeper

There are many new parents who always pay great attention to their baby's every move, but because they have no previous experience, they are often as anxious as ants on a hot pan and can only worry. For example, what should you do if your baby opens his eyes when sleeping, or what should you do if your baby sleeps lightly? These are very confusing for new parents. Well, today I mainly want to talk to you about what to do if your baby at home is a light sleeper. I hope to provide some help for new parents so that they don’t have to worry anymore.

Many babies like to sleep on their stomachs, but babies within two or three months old do not have strong neck strength. If there are objects around their heads covering their mouths and noses, they will not be able to turn their heads away, and the probability of sudden death is much higher than for babies sleeping on their backs. The back sleeping position is the safest for infants and young children. The baby's face is facing upwards and the mouth and nose can directly contact the air. In addition, for some babies who are prone to spitting up milk or vomiting, the vomit may come back and block the airway when they sleep on their backs, or even be inhaled into the lungs, causing danger. They can choose to sleep on their side. If a child is two or three years old and has the ability to protect himself, there is no need to force him to sleep in a certain position, but the mattress and pillow should not be too soft. Nighttime is an important period for the baby's growth and development. It is important to ensure that the baby gets continuous sleep at night and avoid excessive artificial disturbances to the baby's sleep. The baby always likes to hum when sleeping at night, and sometimes he will suddenly wave his hands and feet. According to experts, this phenomenon indicates that the baby is in a shallow sleep state and does not affect his health. Infants and young children spend more time in light sleep. For example, a newborn baby has a sleep cycle of about 45 minutes, half of the time is in light sleep and the other half is in deep sleep. When in light sleep, children may smile, pout, make faces, breathe unevenly, move their arms and legs, and sometimes hum. This is a normal phenomenon. Adults usually dream during light sleep, and children may also dream. During light sleep, some of the things he saw and heard during the day are actually stored in his brain, which also helps the development of his brain. If the stimulation during the day is not enough, you can also receive these stimulations during dreams.

From the above, we can know why the baby at home sleeps lightly, and we can also know some corresponding measures. Therefore, new parents can learn from experience here and don’t have to be too anxious.
