How to treat children's cough after exercise

When children are young, they like to run around, especially when playing outdoors. When the weather is bad, they may have symptoms of coughing after playing. At this time, many parents will control their children's play time when their children exercise in the future, for fear that something will happen to their children. Many parents don’t know how to treat children’s cough after exercise. Let’s learn about it together~

1. Why do children cough easily after exercise?

Children tend to cough after running and jumping. Why does this happen? Which children tend to suffer from severe asthma after exercise? What are the common characteristics of children who cough and have asthma after exercise? We consulted relevant experts on the above questions.

It is difficult to diagnose exercise-induced asthma because the wheezing sound after exercise is generally mistakenly believed to be a manifestation of "shortness of breath". Most children with bronchial asthma or allergic rhinitis may experience varying degrees of bronchoconstriction after continuous exercise. Some children may experience decreased lung function indicators or wheezing in the lungs. In particular, for some children or young people, exercise is the only factor causing asthma. Generally speaking, not every type of exercise can cause asthma. Continuous and intense long-distance running is most likely to cause asthma, while jogging and cycling are less likely to cause asthma.

The cause of exercise-induced asthma is not very clear. It may be related to the release of allergic mediators in the lungs. When exercising, especially long-distance running, the mechanical stimulation of excessive ventilation or the stimulation of dry and cold air in the airways due to heat dissipation and loss of water during exercise can lead to the release of allergic mediators. This mediator acts on the highly reactive bronchial wall and causes asthma. If the above symptoms occur, asthma should be suspected and lung function should be further examined. If there is asthma in the family or if the person himself has allergic diseases such as allergic rhinitis, eczema, etc., he should be further asked whether he has the above symptoms after strenuous exercise so as to confirm the diagnosis and timely treatment.

2. How to treat children's cough after exercise

1. Drink water. If you cough after exercise, you need to drink some water. Drink warm water. Do not drink too much or too hot water. This will make your throat more comfortable and at the same time replenish the water lacked during exercise.

2. Diet. After exercise, diet is also an important part. You need to eat more vegetables and fruits. Common foods include pears, lilies, etc. These fruits can moisten the throat and are very helpful for the throat.

3. Coughing after exercise may be due to poor physical fitness or long-term inactivity. Therefore, you should exercise moderately and participate in exercise for a long time in normal times, and this situation can be well alleviated.

4. Some people are used to wearing masks after exercising. In fact, this is not a good idea as it will affect their breathing.

When children are young, their abilities are limited, so when exercising, they should not be too intense, but exercise appropriately. Excessive exercise can easily cause children to suffocate. If they have symptoms of coughing after exercise, parents should carefully relieve their children's pain.
