Symptoms of separation anxiety in babies

Symptoms of separation anxiety in babies

In fact, the world is still relatively unfamiliar to babies, so going to kindergarten is a very difficult thing. They are very scared because they have to go to an unfamiliar environment, which may cause separation anxiety. Let us now understand the manifestations of separation anxiety in babies.

Main manifestations:

The main manifestations are incessant crying, sitting alone, solitary activities, emotional tension, nagging to go home, refusing to sleep or eat, urinating and defecating anywhere, following people, relying on objects, running around, and aggression.

(1) Loneliness and dullness: Such children are often unsociable, have no interest in groups or games, and live in fantasy. So they behave coldly, speak less and react slowly.

(2) Fear and timidity: In contrast to brave children, fearful and timid children are afraid of darkness, empty spaces, strangers, and being alone in a room. This fear and tension often causes insomnia, nightmares, crying, cowardice and lack of self-confidence.

(3) Stubbornness and resilience: The child displays a confrontational attitude and will cry, roll on the ground, or refuse to eat to show his resistance if his wishes are not met. Insist on your unreasonable demands.

(4) Rage: The child has a violent temper and will cry, make a fuss, shout, throw things, kick, bite, bang his head against the wall, etc. when he is not satisfied. Another more special manifestation is that after the child cries once or twice or cries loudly, he suddenly stops breathing, his face turns cyanotic, and he convulses or "faints", and it takes a while to recover. This is medically called a breath-holding spell.

(5) Stubborn habits: manifested as sucking fingers, biting nails and clothes, touching genitals and masturbating, etc. The sucking action is actually an innate physiological reflex. But if it develops into a bad habit. For example, sucking on a rubber nipple or putting fingers in the mouth to get the satisfaction of sucking milk can become a stubborn habit over time. For example, not paying attention to the cleanliness of children's genitals and anus, which causes local itching, is one of the reasons for children to masturbate.

The above article has given you a detailed introduction to the manifestations of infant separation anxiety. I believe that everyone has a preliminary understanding of it. Therefore, in daily life, if your child also has such a situation, parents should enlighten them.
