Why is my baby not gaining weight?

A new member is added to a family, that is, a newborn baby. The baby's physical condition has always been the parents' biggest concern. If parents find that the baby is not gaining weight, they will be very anxious and want to know what is going on and what methods are there to solve it. Here, parents don’t have to worry, because these problems will be solved for you below.

Slow weight gain isn't always natural. If your child is always hungry, then clearing him out means he has the potential to gain weight quickly. Sometimes, poor weight gain is a sign that your baby is ill. Babies who are slow to gain weight especially need regular checkups with their doctor to make sure they are healthy. Occasionally we see babies who are exceptionally docile, gain weight slowly, but don't appear particularly hungry. As long as their parents increase their food intake, they will accept it happily and grow faster than before. In other words, not all children will cry when they are not full.

A normal baby's weight can double in about 5 months. However, in real life, babies who are born with low birth weight tend to grow faster and tend to catch up. Babies who are born fat and broad often cannot double their weight by the time they are 5 months old.

During the first three months after birth, a normal baby can gain nearly 1,000 grams of weight per month (about 250 grams per week). Of course, some healthy babies grow faster or slower. After three months, the rate of weight gain will gradually slow down. At six months old, the average weight gain will drop to about 500 grams per month (more than 100 grams per week). When babies reach the last quarter of their first year, average weight gain continues to decline to around 300 grams per month (more than 50 grams per week). In the second year it drops to about 200 grams per month.

There are many factors that may affect your baby's weight. It may be that the baby's nutrition obtained from the diet is not enough. At this time, you should prepare more nutritious food for the baby. It may also be caused by picky eating or anorexia. At this time, you can take some digestive aids orally to increase appetite and improve the baby's physical condition.
