Why do children snore?

Since many children do not have the ability to be independent, they sleep with their parents when they are young. Therefore, some physical symptoms that occur during the children's sleep can be discovered by their parents. In addition to adults, snoring symptoms can also occur in children. The only difference is that the causes of snoring in adults and children are different. The following article will introduce the causes of snoring in children to parents.

Some children snore when they sleep, and many parents take it lightly. Little do people know that snoring is very harmful to children, especially affecting their growth and development.

A normal baby's respiratory system is very smooth and it is impossible for him to snore while sleeping. The reason why children snore during sleep is mainly due to poor breathing airflow. Poor airflow prevents oxygen from adequately entering the body, leading to low blood oxygen levels. If this happens repeatedly, it may cause the child to have discontinuous sleep and repeatedly wake up from sleep. The child may suffer from obstructive sleep apnea syndrome.

Baby's snoring is mainly caused by nasal inflammation causing nasal blockage, or pharyngeal lesions causing adenoids inflammation. Some babies have large tongues, which fall back when they sleep on their backs, causing obstruction in the upper airway and snoring. If snoring is caused by these reasons, parents can often stop it by turning the baby over. However, if the baby's snoring is severe or even has respiratory arrest, it means that the baby may suffer from the following diseases and must be treated promptly because these diseases will affect the baby's brain development.

This symptom has a great impact on the child's physical health. Especially if the snoring is severe, the sleep will be often interrupted, the child will not sleep well at night, will be in poor spirits during the day, and will have poor appetite. Over time, this will cause the child to lag in growth, and his height and weight will be lower than normal children of the same age. Therefore, parents cannot ignore the snoring of children.
