What is sensorineural hearing loss in children?

Many children may suffer from sensorineural hearing loss during childhood, and many of these children are born with the disease. However, let us ask experts for more specific knowledge about whether children's sensorineural hearing loss can be cured, how to treat it quickly, and how to care for them in daily life.

1. Overview

Any structural or functional disorder in the sound transmission, perception, or analysis and synthesis parts of the human auditory system can manifest as varying degrees of hearing loss, ranging from mild hearing loss to severe deafness. Hearing loss caused by damage to the spiral hair cells, auditory nerves, auditory conduction pathways or neurons at all levels, which leads to disorders in sound perception and nerve impulse transmission, is clinically referred to as sensorineural hearing loss.

2. Treatment Methods

1. Medication

While excluding or treating the primary disease, drugs that can dilate inner ear blood vessels, reduce blood viscosity and dissolve small blood clots, glucocorticoids, B vitamins, energy mixtures, etc. should be used as early as possible. Antiviral and antibacterial drugs can be used when necessary.

2. Hearing aids

It is a sound amplification device that helps the deaf hear sounds. It can be used by people with an average speech frequency hearing loss of 35--80dB, and the best effect is around 60dB.

3. Cochlear implant

Also known as the cochlear implant, it is currently a good tool to help the severely deaf regain hearing and acquire or maintain speech function.

3. Prevention

1. Eliminate marriage between close relatives, vigorously promote newborn hearing screening, actively prevent and treat pregnancy diseases, and reduce birth injuries.

2. Improve living standards, prevent and treat infectious diseases, actively treat systemic diseases such as hypertension and diabetes, and slow down the aging process of hearing.

3. Strictly follow the indications for the use of ototoxic drugs, reduce the dosage and course of treatment as much as possible, and stop medication and treatment as soon as possible if poisoning is found.

4. Avoid head and brain injuries, minimize exposure to noise and other harmful factors, quit smoking and drinking, and strengthen individual protection concepts and measures.

Many parents are worried that their children will develop diseases such as sensorineural hearing loss. Then I would like to tell you to do a good job of prevention and parenting. As the saying goes, we must start from childhood and treat the root of the disease. We must follow the doctor's advice and go to a regular hospital regularly to do every check-up. I wish you good health soon.
