Causes of forehead protrusion in babies

The condition of baby's protruding forehead may be overlooked by many parents, mainly because we don't know the dangers of baby's protruding forehead. Newborn babies are very sensitive and curious about the world. Because of their sensitivity, they are prone to some problems, so we parents should take better care of our babies. Now let us understand the reasons why babies have protruding foreheads.

A forehead that protrudes forward is not due to calcium deficiency, but rather the corners of the temples that protrude to the sides. The main manifestations of rickets caused by calcium deficiency in infants are as follows. In the early stages of neuropsychiatric symptoms, children sweat excessively on their heads during feeding and sleeping. Excessive sweating causes local irritation, and the children like to shake their heads. When you shake your head, the back of your head is rubbed, which causes hair loss over time. In addition, the child is restless and easily awakened during sleep.

Infants aged 3 to 6 months may have skull softening, which means that when you press the center of the occipital bone or parietal bone with your fingers, the area will sink inward, but the skull will bounce back when you relax your fingers, just like pressing a ping-pong ball, so it is also called ping-pong head. In children over 6 months old, the distal ends of the long bones in the forearms and calves can be felt, and even ring-shaped protrusions formed by hypertrophic bones can be seen, resembling bracelets or anklets.

In infants over 8 or 9 months old, there is excessive accumulation of bone-like tissue under the periosteum of the frontal and parietal bones on both sides, which may form a square skull. Some children have delayed teething. Some ribs are sunken, causing the body of the sternum to protrude outward, forming a pigeon chest. If the xiphoid process of the sternum is sunken inward, it may form a funnel chest. When a child walks, his lower limbs bear the weight, and due to the softening of bones, he may develop O-shaped legs or X-shaped legs. In addition, the child's muscles are loose and the abdomen is bulging, often like a frog's belly.

The above gives a detailed explanation of the problem of protruding forehead in babies. We all know that there are many reasons for this situation, but generally speaking, this situation may be caused by calcium deficiency. If the situation is very serious, our parents can take the baby to the hospital for a detailed consultation to ensure the baby's health.
