How to correct overbite in children

How to correct overbite in children

Teeth are not only tools people use to chew food, but also the most direct appearance of people. Overbite is a very common dental disease that can cause teeth to become deformed and ugly. In many people's impressions, since they don't know the specific situation of overbite, they think that overbite means at most the teeth are slightly crooked. However, in reality, when it gets serious, the whole person will make people feel unbearable to look at.

The growth period is the stage when children grow and replace their teeth, and it is also the time when children in this period are most likely to have overbite. As parents, we should pay attention to this problem, find ways to treat overbite in time, and correct children's tooth shape.

"Overbite" is a relatively common tooth and jaw deformity in children. In addition to genetic factors, many of them are caused by bad habits, such as incorrect breastfeeding posture - letting the baby lie on his back in bed, holding the bottle in his hand to suck milk. In order to hold the nipple for easy sucking, the baby will try to stretch his lower jaw down, and over time the lower jaw will protrude forward. Other habits such as biting the upper lip and sucking fingers can also cause "overbite".

If symptoms of "overbite" appear, treatment should be sought as soon as possible to hinder the development of the deformity and it can usually be cured. For children like this one, who are still relatively young, they can undergo manual correction at home and pay attention to their diet. If the symptoms are still obvious or worsen at the age of 4-5, they must go to the hospital, and the child will cooperate to a certain extent at this time. At the age of 6-7, they begin to change their teeth, and the roots of the deciduous teeth have been absorbed, making treatment more difficult. They should be observed and not corrected for the time being, and can be treated when they are 8-9 years old. If a child has an overbite, the orthodontist will often make a plastic plate with many hooks on it. The child will take off and wear this "magic plastic plate" for about two months, and most overbites can be corrected.

If the overbite becomes serious, it can cause significant changes in people's appearance and be frightening. This is undoubtedly a bolt from the blue for people who love beauty. So as parents we must take this disease seriously. When you find that your child has symptoms of overbite, you should take him or her to the hospital for correction in time to avoid irreparable regrets.
