Swimming pools are prone to pink eye in hot weather. Four aspects of pink eye care for babies

Right now, the weather is hot, and more people are going to the swimming pool to swim and take a bath in the sea. Especially after the college entrance examination, many students who are on vacation have signed up to learn swimming. However, the city's disease control experts reminded that when the weather is hot, "pink eye" enters its peak period and is most easily infected during swimming. The doctor said: The number of patients with "pink eye" who have been treated has increased significantly recently. "Pink eye" is a contact infectious disease. The most important thing is to control your hands and not rub your eyes with your hands.

"Pink eye" enters high incidence period

Ms. Guo, a citizen, signed up her 6-year-old son Tiantian for swimming lessons half a month ago. However, in recent days, Ms. Guo found that her child's eyes were red and swollen. One of his eyes was so covered with eye boogers that he could hardly open it, and his eye was red. Ms. Guo quickly took her child to the hospital for treatment.

Ophthalmologists say that "pink eye" actually refers to acute conjunctivitis, which generally has an incubation period of one to two days. When the disease occurs, patients will have symptoms such as eye pain, redness, itching, tearing, photophobia, congestion and edema. "Pink eye" is an eye disease transmitted through contact. Towels, face washers, faucets, swimming pool water, etc. used by patients can become sources of infection. "Pink eye" can be infected repeatedly and can affect people of all ages, from babies a few months old to people in their 80s and 90s.

There are two main reasons for the high incidence of "pink eye": first, hot weather accelerates the growth and spread of various viruses and microorganisms; second, cooling activities such as swimming cause the eyes and eyelashes to come into direct contact with bacteria in the pool water.

Four aspects of care for babies suffering from conjunctivitis

1. Avoid spreading

When a baby gets conjunctivitis, because it is contagious, it is best to advise parents not to take the baby out, not to let the baby go to kindergarten, and not to take the baby to visit relatives. It is best to let the baby stay at home. Moreover, it is not recommended to give your baby a haircut or bathe him during the period of conjunctivitis.

2. Disinfection

Towels, handkerchiefs, washbasins and other items used by babies must be disinfected at high temperature. This is not difficult. Just boil a pot of water, then put all the things used by your baby into the boiling water and roll them once.

3. Diet care

Feed your baby more light food and avoid greasy or spicy food. Feed your baby more detoxifying vegetables, fresh fruits, etc. In this way, by keeping the baby's bowel movements smooth, the effect of reducing toxins and detoxifying can be achieved, allowing the conjunctivitis virus to be expelled from the body.

4. Build confidence

If a baby has conjunctivitis, parents should not intimidate or scare the baby, so as to avoid other children no longer contacting the baby, thus causing the baby to be isolated. If your baby has conjunctivitis, tell him that it is a normal phenomenon and it will be fine in a few days. Build up your baby's confidence in fighting conjunctivitis.
