Newborn vomiting is mainly caused by small stomach capacity or even poor development. This phenomenon will cause the newborn to be prone to vomiting in a horizontal position, which is also the most common symptom in the neonatal period. Because vomit will often spray out of your mouth and nose at the same time, it is easy to suffocate or even die. Therefore, it is important to diagnose early and treat the disease in time.

In daily life, neonatal vomiting and milk regurgitation are often confused, but in fact there is a certain difference between the two. Most of the time, spit-up milk flows out naturally from the corners of the child's mouth. The child is very peaceful and has no obvious abnormal symptoms. Children are often seen to be irritable before vomiting, and have a painful expression during vomiting, with vomitus often rushing out of the stomach.

There are many reasons for vomiting in newborns: the most common is improper feeding, such as feeding too quickly, feeding too much milk, the hole on the rubber nipple of artificial feeding is too large or too small, so that a large amount of air is swallowed into the stomach during feeding and causing vomiting; swallowing of amniotic fluid containing meconium or blood during delivery; irritation of the gastric mucosa by taking certain medications; gastrointestinal dysfunction caused by excessively hot or cold environment; internal and external infections of the digestive tract such as bronchopneumonia, epidemic diarrhea, sepsis, meningitis, etc.; surgical diseases should not be ignored, and we should be extremely vigilant against various digestive tract malformations such as congenital esophageal atresia, pyloric hypertrophy stenosis, congenital megacolon, or atresia or stenosis of any intestinal segment.

The vomiting of newborns is not only caused by the above-mentioned situations. Sometimes, it also indicates that the child has serious health problems. Therefore, if we find that our baby is vomiting and accompanied by any of the following other symptoms, we must take the baby to the hospital immediately.
