It takes a long time for a child to roll over and then crawl from birth. When the baby is almost one year old, he or she already has the idea of walking. At this time, the child will start to learn to walk, but the walking is unstable at the beginning, so parents need to pay attention to protect the child’s correct walking posture and teach the baby to walk correctly. How do babies learn to walk? When your baby is born, his legs are not strong enough to support his body. However, if you support him under his arms, he can let his legs hang down and push off a hard surface with his feet, as if he is walking. This is an innate conditioned reflex, and the baby's behavior will only last two or three months. When your baby is about 5 months old, you can hold him and let him jump on your lap. In the next two or three months, the baby's favorite activity will be jumping like this. In fact, as your baby learns to roll over, sit up, and crawl, his leg muscles will continue to strengthen. By around 8 months, your baby will probably be able to stand up on his own by holding on to furniture, so make sure everything he can reach is sturdy and stable. If there is an adult supporting the baby and letting him lean against the sofa, the little one will try very hard to stand up. In another two or three weeks, your baby will begin to take a few steps with support. He might even let go and stand for a while without support. Once he's learned the skill of standing without support, he may be able to step forward while you help him walk, or even bend over to pick up a toy while standing. By 9 or 10 months old, your baby will start to figure out how to bend his knees and learn to sit down from a standing position, which is harder than you think! By 11 months old, your baby will likely have mastered standing, bending, and squatting on his own, and may even be able to walk forward holding your hand, but it may take at least a few more weeks before he can start taking independent steps. Most babies walk on their tiptoes when they first learn to walk, with their feet turned outward. By 13 months old, three-quarters of babies can walk on their own, but they are still unsteady. If your baby still needs to hold on to something to walk at this time, it is completely normal. It will take some time for him to be able to walk on his own. |
