Children's eye mucus is thick and yellow

In life, there are many children who have a lot of eye mucus, and their color is yellow and looks very sticky, which makes children feel uncomfortable. Some children like to rub their eyes with their hands when they feel uncomfortable, which will cause the bacteria on their hands to infect the eyes, causing eye diseases to become more and more serious. So what should children do if their eye mucus is too much and yellow and sticky?

1 What should I do if my baby has a lot of yellow eye mucus?

1. If the eye is caused by inflammation or bacterial infection, it is not recommended that parents use eye drops on their babies without authorization. It is best to seek medical attention in time and use medications properly. Pay attention to personal hygiene and baby toiletries must be used separately and disinfected frequently.

2. If the condition is caused by physiological reasons, such as ingrown eyelashes, or because the baby's nasolacrimal duct is not completely unobstructed, then parents are advised to provide daily care.

Tips:

Generally speaking, the mother should wash her hands first, and then use a sterilized cotton swab dipped in clean saline to slowly remove it. If the baby's eye mucus is hard or stuck on the eyelashes, you can use a sterilized cotton ball to wet it for a while, then change the wet cotton ball and gently wipe it from the inside of the eye to the outside of the eye.

2What are the reasons for the baby's excessive eye mucus?

1. Bacterial infection

If the baby not only has a lot of yellow and sticky eye mucus, but also has red and congested eyes, it means that the baby's lacrimal sac is infected with bacteria. Bacterial infection of the baby's lacrimal sac may cause keratitis, which may affect the baby's vision if not treated in time.

2. Getting angry

When a baby gets a sore throat after eating milk powder, it will also cause the baby to have a lot of yellow and sticky eye mucus. This is a normal phenomenon and parents don't need to panic.

3. Congenital tear duct obstruction

If a baby of one or two weeks old seems to have a lot of tears, this may be dacryocystitis caused by obstruction of the lacrimal duct. The baby's tear glands mature one month after birth. If the baby sheds tears without crying, especially if one eye has tears but not the other, parents should pay more attention, as there may be something wrong with the baby's tear glands.
