Yellow eye mucus in the corners of children's eyes

Yellow eye mucus in the corners of children's eyes

In life, many mothers will find that their babies have yellow eye mucus in the corners of their eyes, and this is particularly difficult to deal with, as if it is stuck in the corners of the baby's eyes. Most babies are particularly afraid that it is caused by conjunctivitis, because the eyes are very important to the baby, but he is also very fragile and may be infected with conjunctivitis. So what is the matter with the yellow eye mucus in the corners of children's eyes?

If there is yellow purulent discharge in the child's eyes, this may be caused by internal heat and bacterial conjunctivitis. You can ask the doctor to look at the child's eyelids. If the congestion is severe, then it may be a bacterial infection. If the congestion is not obvious, then it may be internal heat. Generally, the treatment of bacterial conjunctivitis is mainly eye drops, mainly anti-inflammatory eye drops, such as rifampicin eye drops, tobramycin eye drops, etc. Then let the child drink more water, avoid eating snacks that cause internal heat, pay attention to eye cleaning and hygiene, don't let the child rub his eyes, etc., it will usually get better soon.

There are two possibilities for this situation:

1. Your baby is getting hot. Recently, you should let your baby drink more water. Don’t cover your baby too tightly and the temperature in the house should not be too high.

2. If the baby has a lot of eye mucus but no conjunctival congestion, redness or swelling, it may be caused by a mild infection. It is recommended to wipe the area around the eyes with gauze dipped in saline. Baby towels should be used separately from adult towels and disinfected regularly to avoid cross infection. Caregivers should also pay attention to personal hygiene and wash their hands frequently. However, if there is still a lot of eye mucus after wiping, or if there is redness, swelling, congestion, or constant tearing, you need to seek medical attention immediately.

If there are symptoms such as conjunctival congestion at the same time, first be alert to conjunctivitis. If necessary, you need to use external eye drops for treatment, such as tobramycin. If not, you only need to clean it in time with a clean special towel, wipe the four corners separately, and then observe. In addition, pay attention to whether young children have symptoms such as continuous tearing or increased eye secretions, which may be a problem of nasolacrimal duct obstruction. For older children, try to avoid children rubbing their eyes with their hands, otherwise they are prone to infection.
