What are the dangers of children wearing nail polish?

Women must be familiar with nail polish. Nowadays, women love beauty very much and usually do a lot of decorative work, such as painting their fingernails and toenails in various colors to show their personality. At this time, nail polish is used. Nail polish contains many chemical substances, so children must not wear nail polish. Children who often wear nail polish are prone to the following injuries.

Dangers of children applying nail polish:

Nail polish is something that many girls who love beauty will wear, but they also know that nail polish will have a strong odor when used, which is usually emitted by some harmful substances. Therefore, applying nail polish frequently will definitely harm the nails, and the harm may be even greater for children. So what are the dangers of applying nail polish on children?

Nail polish ingredients

First of all, you need to understand the composition of nail polish to know why it is harmful. Usually, the ingredients of nail polish are generally composed of two categories. One is the solid component, which is mainly pigments, glitter, etc.; the other is the liquid solvent component, which mainly uses acetone, ethyl acetate (commonly known as banana water), phthalates, formaldehyde, benzene, etc.

Well, in order to make the ordinary nail polish dry quickly, a large amount of acetone and ethyl acetate are added. The characteristics of these two ingredients are that they are highly volatile, so the nail polish can dry quickly. However, acetone and ethyl acetate are hazardous chemicals. They are flammable and explosive, and produce a dizzying and irritating odor when they evaporate, polluting the indoor air. Long-term inhalation may cause damage to the nervous system and they are also highly irritating to mucous membranes. Many nail polishes have this statement: "It is best to apply nail polish in a ventilated room, otherwise it may cause dizziness..." That's what I mean.

Although nail polish does not enter the body directly, it will still enter the body through the penetration of the nails. After all, nails are also part of the body, just like other organs. Nail polish contains formaldehyde, so it is harmful to the body.

The harm of nail polish to children

Moreover, for children, even nail polish specially designed for young children cannot avoid containing some harmful ingredients. Doctors point out that nail polish contains heavy metal ingredients, and the high content of heavy metals makes it colorful. The harmful substances in nail polish can cause great irritation to pregnant women in their sensitive period and people who are prone to allergies. Pregnant women and people with sensitive constitutions are prohibited from using nail polish.

Secondly, many young children have the habit of biting their nails with their mouths, which will directly swallow harmful substances. In addition, children like to imitate each other when they are together, and will encourage other children to apply nail polish.

Although nail polish looks good after application, it cannot be used frequently, especially for children. Mothers may apply nail polish on their children to make them look more beautiful. In fact, the harm is still not small, even if it is specially made for young children, because it may not only cause harm to the nail polish itself, but some children may chew their fingers and accidentally swallow the nail polish.
