Six-year-old child has stomachache and vomiting

Children are the apple of their parents' eyes, and any problem that arises in their babies will be magnified. Since children's immune systems and various functions are at a developmental stage in their early years, they are prone to problems in their daily lives. Some children as young as six years old may experience stomach pain and vomiting from time to time. So what is the reason for this situation? What should we do?

Intussusception is one of the most common abdominal emergencies in children. It refers to a section of the intestine that gets stuck in its distal end, similar to a folded monocular telescope. It is more common in babies between 5 months and 18 months old, and is often manifested by abdominal pain, vomiting, and jam-like stools. After intussusception, the blood circulation of the intestinal wall is obstructed, and necrosis and perforation may occur, leading to peritonitis and even death. If it can be diagnosed early, no surgery is required, and the intussuscepted intestine can be repositioned with air enema.

However, in the early stages of intussusception, babies will not complain of abdominal pain and often show intermittent crying, restlessness, bent legs, and pale complexion. After the abdominal pain is relieved, they can play or sleep quietly, making parents think that there is nothing serious, thus delaying diagnosis and treatment. Therefore, when your baby has paroxysmal crying and restlessness, especially when accompanied by vomiting, jam-like stools, and poor spirits, you should seek medical attention early to rule out intussusception so that you can get reduction treatment as soon as possible. Don't be careless.

Parenting Tips

It is said that preventing intussusception in children should start from daily life:

1. Diarrhea should be avoided. During the peak period of diarrhea, parents should be highly vigilant about the occurrence of this disease.

2. Pay attention to scientific feeding, do not let the baby starve or overeat, change food at will, and add supplementary food gradually, do not rush.

3. Pay attention to climate changes, add or remove clothes at any time, and avoid various adverse factors that may easily induce intestinal motility disorders.

4. If a healthy infant or child suddenly has unexplained paroxysmal crying, pale complexion, cold sweats, vomiting, bloody stools, and lethargy, one should consider the possibility of intussusception.

5. The main symptoms are abdominal pain, vomiting and jam-like bloody stools.

6. Once intussusception is confirmed, strict fasting, including water

7. Follow your doctor’s orders!
