There are many reasons why your baby's lips may turn purple. If a child has purple lips when he is just born, it may be due to congenital heart disease. 1. Weak spleen yang

The spleen's essence is in the lips. If the spleen yang is weak, the clear yang cannot nourish the lips, and over time the lips may turn blue and purple.

2. Cold attacks Shaoyin

When cold invades Shaoyin, yin and cold accumulate inside, the fire of Mingmen weakens, and Yang Qi does not circulate, blue and purple lips can be seen.

3. Phlegm and turbidity blocking the lungs

If there is a history of cough, asthma and phlegm, the lung qi cannot descend, and the fluid accumulates to produce phlegm; the spleen is weak and cannot transport and transform, and the dampness stagnates to produce phlegm.

4. Qi stagnation and blood stasis

Due to emotional injury, Qi movement is not smooth, and long-term illness causes Qi to enter the blood, causing blood stasis to block the collaterals, and Qi and blood cannot flow upward, so blue and purple lips can be seen.

2. Treatment based on different types

1. Weak spleen yang

Clinical manifestations: bluish lips, poor appetite, loose stools, abdominal distension after eating, cold hands and feet, pale tongue with white coating, and deep and weak pulse.

Treatment method: Warm and activate spleen yang.

Prescription: Fuzi Lizhong Decoction. Aconite, ginseng, licorice, ginseng, and white atractylodes.

2. Cold attacks Shaoyin

Clinical manifestations: bluish-purple lips, dark complexion, cold hands and feet, dizziness, or shortness of breath when moving, or soreness of waist and knees, pale and dark tongue, slippery tongue coating, and deep and tight pulse.

Treatment method: Warm the kidney and dispel cold.

Prescription: Sini Decoction. Aconite, dried ginger, and licorice.

3. Phlegm and turbidity blocking the lungs

Clinical manifestations: bluish lips, accompanied by cough, wheezing and sputum, even opening the mouth and raising the shoulders, unable to lie flat, turbid, thick and yellow sputum, or white, clear and thin sputum, dark purple tongue, thick and greasy yellow tongue coating or thick and greasy white tongue coating, slippery or rapid pulse.
