Symptoms of hepatosplenomegaly in babies

Hepatosplenomegaly is a relatively common disease. This disease not only occurs in adults, but sometimes newborn babies may also suffer from this disease, which is relatively harmful to the child's body. The hepatosplenomegaly is mainly caused by bacterial and viral infections. At this time, the child often suffers from anemia and can cause swollen lymph nodes. Let's take a look at the symptoms of babies with hepatosplenomegaly.

Symptoms of hepatosplenomegaly in babies

1. If the baby is acutely infected by bacteria and viruses, it may cause hepatosplenomegaly. The baby will have varying degrees of anemia and lymphadenopathy. Most babies will have a high fever. Babies with severe hepatosplenomegaly may be in the late stage of malignant lymphoma.

2. Hepatosplenomegaly in children is also a relatively serious disease. Most of the time, it is caused by a specific disease. For example, lymphadenopathy and fever caused by viral infection, rubella, emergency treatment for young children, sepsis, and worm disease may all cause hepatosplenomegaly in babies. In addition, babies may also develop some systemic infectious diseases, and severe pain and tenderness in the liver area.

3. Some babies with hepatosplenomegaly may also show serious damage to the urinary system, such as changes in urine color or hematuria. The nervous system may also be affected, and there may be some intellectual impairments, etc.

The dangers of hepatosplenomegaly

1. Acute hepatitis

Jaundice of any kind or not can cause an enlarged liver. In the absence of severe liver signs, the diagnosis of this disease is doubtful. Where the liver was enlarged in the near future, the texture of the liver was soft and the liver was tender and painful. In particular, in patients with jaundice, other diseases that cause liver enlargement can be ruled out, and the diagnosis of acute hepatitis should be considered first. An enlarged spleen is one sign of hepatitis, but not in every case. Most patients with enlarged spleen have a soft, slightly swollen, and mildly swollen spleen.

2. Chronic hepatitis

Chronic active and chronic persistent hepatomegaly are relatively hard and tender. Some patients complain of pain in the liver area. Splenomegaly is a sign in some patients with chronic hepatitis. The swelling is not obvious, but is firm and tender. Active people are distinguished from persistent people with marked liver function abnormalities and obvious jaundice.

3. Liver abscess

Bacterial liver abscesses are usually serious. Both the left and right sides of the liver are affected and enlarged simultaneously. The texture was soft and tender to the touch and the right quarter ribs were battered.

4. Fatty liver

Liver damage due to lipodystrophy. The liver is mildly to moderately enlarged with tenderness on palpation, firm or hard in texture, and smooth in surface. Rarely, these patients present with splenomegaly, and liver biopsy is necessary to aid in the diagnosis. Other metabolic liver diseases, such as amyloidosis and hemochromatosis, can cause significant hepatomegaly, hard texture, blunt edges and no tenderness. In rare cases, jaundice and ascites may occur.

5. Liver cancer

Hepatosplenomegaly is one of the main manifestations of liver cancer, whether it is primary or secondary, and is a symptom of all causes of hepatosplenomegaly.
