There are black deposits on the surface of teeth that cannot be brushed off even with brushing. There may be some reasons as follows, but first let’s talk about the sulfur element in food. Most foods contain sulfur, and the highest content is found in foods such as leeks, onions, and garlic. If you do not brush your teeth in time after a meal, or the food residue is affected by bacteria, the sulfur element will be released to react chemically with iron or lead to form a water-insoluble black precipitate that adheres to the surface of the teeth.

Therefore, children who take iron supplements (usually iron supplements are taken after meals) should drink some water and rinse their mouths after taking the medicine to prevent their teeth from turning black.

If the lead load in the child's body is high, the lead element in the mouth will react with the sulfur element in the food to form insoluble lead sulfide precipitates, which are also black and difficult to scrape off even by dentists using professional tools. Because the drug penetrates into the mouth and acts on the surface of the teeth to dissolve the black lead sulfide, the teeth are whitened.

3. Also, if the mercury load in the child's body is high, the teeth will also turn black. The reason is that the mercury in the saliva reacts with the sulfur element in the food to form a water-insoluble black precipitate, which will also cause the teeth to turn black.

There are many reasons for the blackening of teeth. Some of them are caused by pigmentation. These situations are especially prone to occur in patients who often drink strong tea and smoke. These tea stains and cigarette stains will adhere to the surface of the teeth and turn black over time.
