Yellow stool during neonatal jaundice

Yellow stool during neonatal jaundice

In our lives, neonatal jaundice is a very common phenomenon. In fact, neonatal jaundice is a common disease in newborns. If the patient's symptoms are mild, mothers only need to take their babies to bask in the sun to get better. But if the area of jaundice is large, it only needs treatment. Neonatal jaundice is also closely related to breast milk. So what is the reason for yellow stool during neonatal jaundice?

1. Due to food (high protein), the urine of newborns will be yellowish. During the period of physiological jaundice of newborns, due to the sharp increase in bilirubin in the blood, part of it will be excreted through urine, and the urine will also appear yellowish. This is a normal physiological reaction.

2. Since infants have weak digestive functions, their stools may turn green, contain bubbles, and increase in frequency due to changes in weather, food, or the mother's diet. As long as the frequency of bowel movements is less than 8 times a day, the infant is in good spirits, not dehydrated, and is fed normally, it can be considered normal and does not require medication.

This situation is very common and many babies are like this. It is recommended not to worry. The baby will recover on his own. Whether it is defecation or urine, it is excreting jaundice. It is normal. Just drink more water.

Neonatal jaundice is mainly characterized by clinical manifestations such as yellowing of the skin and sclera, and has no direct causal relationship with stool. Guidance: If necessary, you can go to the hospital for further liver function tests to confirm the diagnosis, and actively receive jaundice treatment based on the cause.

There is no particularly direct relationship between jaundice and stool, but generally after taking jaundice-reducing drugs, the stool may become loose. The jaundice condition cannot be judged well by the stool, and the jaundice value needs to be measured transcutaneously.
