White spots appear on the child's face

White spots appear on the child's face

In life, there are many children who are prone to white spots on their faces. When white spots appear on their faces, adults will be particularly anxious, fearing that their children have vitiligo, because vitiligo is not only difficult to treat, but also particularly affects the appearance. In fact, white spots on children's faces are not necessarily caused by vitiligo, but may also be caused by white pityriasis. So what should we do when white spots appear on children's faces?

One of the causes of white spots on infants’ faces: Ascaris. Some experts believe that if there are roundworms in the stomach of infants and young children, there will often be obvious white spots on the face of the child with roundworms, which we often call worm spots. At the same time, there will be small white dots on the baby's nails, small white spots on the lower lip, and blue spots on the child's sclera. However, the appearance of these white spots is not unique to ascariasis and generally cannot be used as a basis for diagnosis. If infants and young children eat contaminated or unclean food, they will often suffer from ascariasis.

The second cause of white spots on the face of infants and young children: pityriasis simplex. Simple pityriasis, also known as "white pityriasis", is one of the main causes of white spots on the faces of infants and young children. It is a relatively common skin disease that usually occurs on the faces of infants and young children, especially in the hot summer, and causes obvious itching. Children of this type often have the habit of being picky and partial eaters, their nutritional intake is not comprehensive, and they lack multiple vitamins, which in turn causes round or oval macules to appear on their facial skin. The boundaries between the macules and normal skin are often not obvious. After about half a month of onset, the redness disappears, the surface becomes dry, and a small amount of grayish-white fine scales remain with clear boundaries and raised edges. Children of this type should pay attention to keeping their faces clean and apply some silicone oil cream or 5% sulfur cream ointment to the affected area appropriately. Most children will get better naturally.

The third cause of white spots on infants’ faces: vitiligo. This is an extremely stubborn and complicated skin disease that can affect people of all ages, from newborn babies to elderly people, but 50% of patients develop the disease before the age of 20. Vitiligo is an acquired, localized or generalized depigmentation skin disease. Most patients' affected areas have no pigmentation at all, are of different shapes and sizes, have clear boundaries, and the pigmentation at the borders is darker. The cause of vitiligo is still unclear, and it may be related to factors such as genetics, low immunity, and endocrine disorders. Vitiligo has a long course of disease. Some patients may suffer from it for life, some will disappear on their own, and only a few will completely heal on their own.

In addition, other causes of white spots on the face of infants and young children include anemic nevus, achromatic nevus, tinea versicolor, inflammatory skin diseases, mottled disease, tuberous sclerosis, etc. These skin diseases may also induce white spots on the face of infants and young children. This requires us as parents, once we find white spots on our baby's face, we must take the baby to a regular hospital for a comprehensive examination as soon as possible, find out the cause, and take timely and scientific measures.
