Does baby vascular nevus need treatment?

Does baby vascular nevus need treatment?

Many people are very afraid of vascular nevi. This is a kind of fear instinct of the human body. They think that growing on blood vessels will more or less endanger the health of the body. In fact, it is not that serious. Vascular nevus is a very common benign tumor in infants. This disease can usually be cured with laser or hormone treatment when the child grows up and will not be life-threatening. However, vascular nevus may also be a vascular malformation, and the specific condition depends on the condition.

Vascular nevus is the most common benign tumor in infants and is formed by the proliferation of vascular network during the embryonic period. There are two types of vascular nevi: hemangiomas and vascular malformations. Vascular malformations are vascular malformations that may persist throughout life. Hemangioma is caused by the proliferation of vascular endothelial cells. Strawberry hemangioma and cavernous hemangioma are more common clinically. Hemangiomas should be treated actively, and laser therapy, hormone therapy, radiotherapy, cryosurgery and surgery can be selected as appropriate.

Causes and common diseases

Vascular nevus is formed by the proliferation of vascular network during the embryonic period.

Differential Diagnosis

Hemangiomas need to be differentiated from hemorrhagic nodules. The former have a typical appearance and the characteristic of disappearing or becoming lighter in color when pressed with fingers. If necessary, the hemangioma can be aspirated with a needle to draw out fresh blood; the blood drawn from the bleeding nodule is old blood, which may be mixed with other components.

examine

General laboratory test results showed no specific findings. X-rays are valuable in understanding the size and extent of deep tumors or whether the tumors erode the cervical spine or laryngeal cartilage. Deeper hemangiomas should be confirmed by postural movement tests and puncture. Arteriography and aneurysm cavity angiography can also be used to assist in diagnosis.

Treatment principles

The treatment of hemangioma should generally establish the concept of active treatment. On the basis of correct diagnosis, the following methods can be selected according to the specific situation:

1. Laser treatment. In recent years, the use of laser to treat superficial vascular diseases has become more popular.

2. Hormone therapy, local hormone injection therapy and oral corticosteroid therapy.

3. Radiation therapy is generally not recommended for children.

4. Freeze.

5. Surgical treatment.

6. Follow-up observation is the first choice for hemangiomas that are not growing very obviously or have entered the stable or regressing stage.
