White sticky discharge from the eyes of children

White sticky discharge from the eyes of children

If there is any disease in the eyes, it can often be determined by the eye secretions, so when the eyes secrete unusual secretions, you should pay attention to whether there is any disease in the eyes. The same is true for children. Since children have poor expressive ability, they have to be carefully observed by adults. If a child's eyes secrete white sticky substances, it is often an indication of inflammation. What is the reason for the white sticky substance secreted from the child's eyes?

1. Dry eyes or conjunctivitis

When the eyes always secrete a sticky, white, thread-like substance, when you pull open the eyelids you can find some white substance stuck inside, and you can even pull threads out of the eyes, accompanied by symptoms such as itchy eyes and a foreign body sensation. People who experience this condition often have dry eyes or acute allergic conjunctivitis.

2. Corneal inflammatory secretions

Keratitis is caused by exposure of the corneal surface, rapid evaporation of tears, dryness, blurring, necrosis, shedding, ulceration of the corneal epithelium, or degeneration of the corneal epithelium. When conjunctivitis is caused by bacterial infection, inflammatory secretions will be produced, and white sticky substances may appear in the eyes.

3. There is heat in the body

Heat in the body can also cause increased eye secretions, which appear as white and sticky secretions. It is generally more common in children, especially breastfeeding babies. Due to improper feeding, the baby gets inflamed and it happens. At this time, it is recommended that the mother can pay more attention to feeding the baby some warm boiled water. If the baby is fed with milk powder, the milk powder should be diluted appropriately. If the baby is breastfed, the mother should pay more attention to the diet and stop eating spicy and irritating foods. Another possible reason is blocked lacrimal sac. You can use your fingertips to massage back and forth along the corners of your eyes toward the bridge of your nose four or five times a day. It will be fine in about a week.

4. Chronic conjunctivitis

Chronic conjunctivitis is a chronic inflammation of the conjunctiva caused by various reasons, including bacterial infection, stimulation from adverse environments, the influence of eye diseases, bad living habits, etc. Its clinical characteristics are eye discomfort, white foamy secretions, and mild or no obvious congestion of the conjunctiva.
